So, is it, “You shall not murder” or “You shall not kill”? These are two very different things.

I was speaking of the entirety of the Torah, not the tablets that Moses brought down from Mt. Sinai.

Why do they always misrepresent Thou Shalt Not MURDER as Thou Shalt Not KILL? There is a difference between the two.
To: IYAS9YAS
Hebrew word “ratsah” should be rendered “murder.” This root refers only to criminal acts of killing.

How is that a commandment? It’s a declaration.

Did you notice after completing the second part when the images were flashing the demonic images? It was very creepy.

How is that a commandment? Its a declaration. "Ten commandments" is an English idea. The Torah says, "Atzeret debrot" which is probably the genesis of the phrase, but these words are usually translated as "ten words." The Torah actually contains 613 commandments.

There IS a time for killing....but not murder. Some lib must have written the quiz.

The commandments all go all the way into the heart and mind. Jesus said if you looked with lust at a woman, you have committed adultery. If you have thought murderous thoughts, you have committed murder and so forth. Passing or fleeting on these thoughts are not sinful; dwelling on them is.

Why do you say that? I take the statement at face value and it is correct. There is a clear difference between kill and murder.
Killing was necessary to put meat on the table. Sometimes in law enforcement and in self-defense killing is necessary. Just warfare involves killing. These killings are not sin - not against the sixth commandment.

The test said “killing” was never allowed.
I agree that murder is never allowed, but there IS a time for killing, just as you stated. Obviously I failed that question on their test. But certainly I did not fail in understanding of God’s word.

Oh, I understand now. And I failed that question for the same reason.

Question #6 YOU SHALL NOT KILL
1 - I’d never kill another person (this was the “correct” answer according to the testers)
2 There are circumstances when killing is okay (this is actually the correct answer - the way I answered the question)
3. Killing is just another part of living (fail)

Yes, but IMO, even though killing is not the sin of murder, there is a loss of holiness that accompanies killing.
King David told his son Solomon:
But the word of God was upon me, saying: 'You have shed much blood, and you have waged great wars; you shall not build a house in My Name because you have shed much blood to the ground before Me. Behold a son will be born to you. He will be a man of peace, and I shall give him peace from all his enemies around about . . . He shall build a House in My Name. I Chronicles 22:8-10
