Pray for our American Heroes

God, we come to You this day with praise and thanksgiving for who You are and for the great salvation that Jesus bought for mankind through His shed blood. For all eternity we will rejoice before and with You and Your angels for eternal life.

We thank You also this day for establishing the United States of America on Biblical principles. We have a rich heritage of faith, truth and submission to You and Your ways of doing and being right and for this we give You thanks. We are blessed to be Americans. We are blessed to be able to pray openly.

We pray for every member of our military and their sacrificing families—true heroes. They have given up their lives and personal plans in order to keep us safe and we are so indebted to them. We count each one as a precious gift from You. Protect them as they protect us. Defend them as they defend us. Encourage and strengthen their spirit, soul and body in the execution of their duties and responsibilities. Undergird them with Your spirit and might when they are called upon to endure the hardships of battle. We ask You, Sir, to provide them with the best equipment and leaders and sufficient funds to keep them pre-eminent in the world. We are believing You for complete victory against the evil they are fighting.

We are grateful to You, Sir, every time truth is revealed. We give You praise for the work being done by Mr. Breitbart in exposing ACORN. Glory, Hallelujah! We pray for the protection of those involved in this project and favor in the courts. Give them wisdom to know each step to take as they, like our soldiers, enter into enemy territory to expose evil. Strengthen their physical bodies and provide whatever financing they need to continue this good work.

We bless You for Who You are and all that You are doing to protect that which You have established here in this Country. Enlighten the eyes of our people’s understanding to Your goodness and Your holiness. Drive them to their knees in seeking and worshipping the only thing that truly matters in this life—You and Your Kingdom.

We use lights to make manifest. A Christian man should so shine in his
life, that a person could not live with him a week without knowing the
gospel. His conversation should be such that all who are about him should
clearly perceive whose he is, and whom he serves; and should see the image
of Jesus reflected in his daily actions. Lights are intended for guidance.
We are to help those around us who are in the dark. We are to hold forth
to them the Word of life. We are to point sinners to the Saviour, and the
weary to a divine resting-place. Men sometimes read their Bibles, and fail
to understand them; we should be ready, like Philip, to instruct the
inquirer in the meaning of God’s Word, the way of salvation, and the life
of godliness. Lights are also used for warning. On our rocks and shoals a
light-house is sure to be erected. Christian men should know that there
are many false lights shown everywhere in the world, and therefore the
right light is needed. The wreckers of Satan are always abroad, tempting
the ungodly to sin under the name of pleasure; they hoist the wrong light,
be it ours to put up the true light upon every dangerous rock, to point
out every sin, and tell what it leads to, that so we may be clear of the
blood of all men, shining as lights in the world.
Lights also have a very cheering influence, and so have Christians.
A Christian ought to be a comforter, with kind words on his lips, and
sympathy in his heart; he should carry sunshine wherever he goes, and
diffuse happiness around him.

Gracious Spirit dwell with me;
I myself would gracious be,
And with words that help and heal
Would thy life in mine reveal,
And with actions bold and meek
Would for Christ my Saviour speak.
