Highlighting of second paragraph is mine.
Comments?
Actually Pope Benedict has avoided any public comment whatsoever on Senator Kennedy's death. Presumably the Pontiff has his reasons for choosing to be silent, and indeed it is not difficult to imagine what those reasons might be. If only the American hierarchy had opted for a similar silence-- praying for the soul of Ted Kennedy, certainly, but not extolling his public life-- the Church might have avoided another grave public scandal.
One more reason United Airlines sucks: I was on a DEN-BOS flight on the evening of 25 August. Upon arrival in BOS (wee hours of 26 August, this being UAL), the cabin crew found it necessary to announce Fat Teddy's departure.
“We cannot know the state of Ted Kennedy’s soul when he finally succumbed to brain cancer. We are told that he was visited regularly by a priest in his last days; we assume that he made a sincere confession and received absolution. We can — and should, and do — pray that he receives the same sort of merciful judgment that we wish for ourselves.”
Gee, maybe I should change my tagline...nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

A Heroic Death, Without the Headlines
Teddie is now Saint Teddie, patron saint of brazen hussies and harlots!
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.
Galatians 6
Phil Lawler has done a good job of culling the stories and pointing out the misrepresentations of fact. Sadly, the Cardinals missed an opportunity to communicate the truths of the Catholic Church.
The funeral service should have been done by aging humble priest without a eulogy.
I am wondering if Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas will receive the same respect and public funeral Mass as St Teddy.
What Kennedy did not deserve, due to his promotion of abortion and gay marriage, in direct opposition to church teaching, was the type of grandiose, politicized funeral he received from the Catholic Church.
Apparently the concept of a Catholic public figure "giving scandal" to the Church by his actions has been thrown under the bus in Boston. A pathetic example was set by Cardinal O'Malley, who also couldn't wait to post numerous pictures of the ceremony and various political celebrities, including, of course, Obama, on the same blog in which he defended his actions.
“During his wake at Boston’s Kennedy Library, a woman wearing a “fetal feet” lapel pin was stopped at the door and informed that pro-lifers would not be allowed to view the Senator’s casket.”
Such evil! The whole Kennedy clan and all their associates are despicable.
It is shameful the way the Church wimped out re Ted Kennedy.
I’m very angry at the dishonesty and denial, and especially the double standard.
Amazing...that speaks volumes.
