Excellent point about Clarence Thomas, or any Catholic, for that matter.

Oops, I should have said, “Any straight and narrow Catholic.”

Do not use potty language - or references to potty language - on the Religion Forum.

It should have been what it was...as all things are, no?

I don't consider the issue to be whether Kennedy deserved a Catholic funeral. That was between him and the Church, and none of my business.

What Kennedy did not deserve, due to his promotion of abortion and gay marriage, in direct opposition to church teaching, was the type of grandiose, politicized funeral he received from the Catholic Church.

Apparently the concept of a Catholic public figure "giving scandal" to the Church by his actions has been thrown under the bus in Boston. A pathetic example was set by Cardinal O'Malley, who also couldn't wait to post numerous pictures of the ceremony and various political celebrities, including, of course, Obama, on the same blog in which he defended his actions.

Exactly! But that’s just my thought on it - more than likely a huge stretch, I know, but entirely possible, nonetheless. Actually, I saw it as a plus for his image but not for the libs - their lion bit their butt in the end.

“During his wake at Boston’s Kennedy Library, a woman wearing a “fetal feet” lapel pin was stopped at the door and informed that pro-lifers would not be allowed to view the Senator’s casket.”

Such evil! The whole Kennedy clan and all their associates are despicable.

It is shameful the way the Church wimped out re Ted Kennedy.
I’m very angry at the dishonesty and denial, and especially the double standard.

And Obama, leader in virtually every anti-Catholic policy there is, should never have been invited to say anything in a Church building.

This act alone I think qualifies as heresy, wish the Holy Father would say so.

I do, too. The Pope has been very quiet for several months now (since the last media-generated "storm" over his perfectly logical remarks rejecting the use of condoms, ostensibly to prevent AIDS, in Africa). I don't know if the forces against him in the Vatican (and there are many) have managed to silence him or if they somehow have him very closely controlled. Or perhaps he is just biding his time, working on something else that is of great importance but not as high-profile. Prayers for him, in any case!

Yes, prayers for Benedict XVI.
I think there is a great deal of innocence in our holier clergy and the clergy and lay persons with a liberal bent prey upon that innocence.

Amazing...that speaks volumes.

This just proves to me that the Kennedy family runs the Catholic Church, in Boston, at least.

God has revealed to us the truth about what His Church has become. This is a wake-up call. Is the Church listening to God? Or rationalizing their sins before Him?

If anyone with any courage had recited the St. Michael's Exorcism prayer at that funeral, Teddy's body would have caught fire.

Did Ted Kennedy ever publicly renounce his abortion position prior to his death or in his post death memoirs?

I tell you I prayed for Holy Father at mass today, to give him courage and protection to say the right thing even though it may be oblique but clear.
