Well the LDS Church does do a great deal of charitable work among the impoverished of Latin America including by the way giving interest free education loans to many to get college and technical training. But the temples are for bringing people closer to God. All people, rich or poor, bond or free, need that—more frankly than the comforts of life. Why would the impoverished be in any less need of spiritual things than of worldy things? Why would that be of any less benefit to them? Seems like something a liberal would say. Do you condemn church building by other religions in Latin America including Catholic cathedrals? Most LDS Temples these days are as small as an average sized church building.
I take it that is part of the “charity work” of which you speak.
Save the “voluntary” bit, responsible charitable people would have said no, God bless you but let us help, there is no need to suffer and never would have taken advantage of those less educated.
We are also aware of how limited access is to these marble monstrosities. It is not like the wooden church I helped built in Central America that is Church on Sunday, a Clinic on Saturday and a school the rest of the week, all built sans dental work. Even Catholic Cathedrals are used for multiple functions and paid for by the world wide church, not out of the mouths of the locals.
BTW welcome and enjoy the ride.

Actually they dont even feed those folks...
The Morg considers it not worth the effort and a waste of money because they cant get any tithe money out of them
Why do you think the Morg cons the poor in those country to give up their teeth to buoild useless temples that they are then unworthy to enter ???
The mormons dont give...they take...
and they certainly dont pay for any schooling..

But not the one in Brazil...
And just where are those little ones ???
How woudld they reach their gods if their temples are little and short
........and that's wonderful. Christian Churches (especially The Catholic Church) have been doing that for centuries.
LDS are copycats and Joe Smith was the king of Copycats. He even tried to re-write the Bible and failed miserably. He got an F- from Egyptian scholars on the book of mormon text. And so it goes.
God told us to beware of false prophets. Ever hear that?
