Authorities in Guyana grew "uncomfortable" with the presence of Mormon missionaries who have been ordered to leave the South American country, a governing party leader said Thursday.
About 40 missionaries were briefly detained Wednesday and told to leave within a month as authorities said their travel documents were out of date.
Comments by Donald Ramotar of the governing People's Progressive Party, however, suggested the crackdown went beyond immigration

He said opposition legislator Volda Lawrence traveled to Utah as a guest of the church two years ago, although the church also invited the pro-government head of the race commission, Juan Edghill, to visit.

........and that's wonderful. Christian Churches (especially The Catholic Church) have been doing that for centuries.
LDS are copycats and Joe Smith was the king of Copycats. He even tried to re-write the Bible and failed miserably. He got an F- from Egyptian scholars on the book of mormon text. And so it goes.
God told us to beware of false prophets. Ever hear that?
Yeah right...
Don't cease the inhalation of oxygen...
LOL...
I should have put “new” with the marks...
That is what makes it so hard to tell. All LDS are schooled in the same methods of rhetoric and “debate”.
Seems they spend more time doing that then studying their dogma.
Which of course makes sense.
If they studied the dogma in detail they wouldn’t be Mormons long...
But the poor they took the dental work from will never be tithe payers, at least not consistently, so will rarely if ever enjoy the benefits of their sacrifice.
I know you're just trying to be funny, but I think you may want to take a different approach in your anti Mormon approach.
The Catholics had a similar oxen font as late as the 11th Century. It's Currently on display at the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew's.
The idea of course comes from the Temple of Solomon, which was written about looong before the Catholics or Mormons made fonts.
2 Chronicles 4
2 ¶ Also he made a molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and five cubits the height thereof; and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.
3 And under it was the similitude of oxen, which did compass it round about: ten in a cubit, compassing the sea round about. Two rows of oxen were cast, when it was cast.
4 It stood upon twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east: and the sea was set above upon them, and all their hinder parts were inward.
5 And the thickness of it was an handbreadth, and the brim of it like the work of the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies; and it received and held three thousand baths.
Did you read that in a book or something?
Or did he (she, they, whatever)..
I often wonder when the LDS folks seem to miss a point if it is by design in order to introduce another point in obfuscation...
SOP...
(I would given my gold dental work to find out, but alas everyone I know is too contentious and ethical to take it...)
I looked @ the Salt Lake Trib on Thursday -- they reported: The church emissaries - most of whom are U.S. citizens - were simply doing missionary work, said Leslie Sobers, a local spokeswoman for the church. Officials said there appear to have been some ongoing negotiations over the missionaries' visas and work permits.
It seems to me lds have missionary work 6 days a week from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. -- and only one day off which it sets aside as "Preparation Day." What are those work permits for? When would they have time to work beyond their missionary work?
Hmmmmm......sounds like one of Robert Millet's apologetics techniques.
Bottom line is that Joe Smith drank beer and wine. He had a Bar inside his own home. But because of the ‘control’ factor, he or Bring’em didn’t want any of their brainwashed LDS’ers to drink alcohol or coffee. (yes, that makes no sense whatsoever). Alcohol can create clarity and that would’ve blown Joe’s make-believe cover.
Almost have to admire the discipline.
Sad they don't spend as much time studying their dogma.
Of course if they did they wouldn't be Mormons long.
Like all good cons, you have to keep the mark distracted.
However there are times I wonder about a few LDSers I see here. I almost think they know they are arguing in circles in support of their fantasy religion, but due to being to “invested” keep going. They are in too deep, the “church” is connected to their economic interest and such. They have become too dependent too entrenched.
And some of those may still try and justify their “faith” out of a need for it to be “right” even if inside they know it's a losing battle.
Good points, Jonesie. However, you left out the "family factor".
There are quite often very sad comments at Exmormon.org that tell of the loss of entire families by those who dare to leave mormonism....wives divorcing husbands in order to find a "worthy" man who can take her into the celestial kingdom, parents turning their backs on children....
Then again, we have a few here that have imbibed deeply of the Kool-aid and believe all the facts presented here are nothing but lies, even when they are sourced to the official mormon web site.
Which I find telling. Their own consciences correctly warn them that those Mormon beliefs they aren't familar with (yet, anyway) are heretical. In response, they engage in slander and false accusations claiming the messengers are lying. Only later, in private, they turn and receive those same heresies as truth.
Is this your way of speculating that the crux of the matter is that they just don't want the general public to actually see what the "meat" of their diet consists of? ;)
Having done business with people from Salt Lake City I can honestly say that every criticism that is made about Mormons and the situation in Utah is true. One of the reasons why I could never get on the Romney train (or on any Mormon candidate’s train) is that that they believe that there will be a Mormon president and that this president will take office under certain circumstances.
You know, I respect all faiths but the Mormons really are a cult. It’s that simple.
I have seen he stories too. Shunning based on such things is what radicals do.
As far as being presented with even their own information, fact allergies are epidemic in the LDS.
I think any non-mormon who has lived in mormon-heavy areas have seen this "don't do business with the gentiles" requirement...I know I have.
I saw this article on exmormon.org that pretty well covers it.
Received disturbing information from a nonmember coworker... she has a nevermo hairdresser here in lovely Gilbert, Arizona who has recently lost many of her mormon clients. The hairdresser called one particular 12 year client of hers who had not shown for her regular appts and asked what she had done to offend her since she had not seen her in so long.
After much prying the mormon fessed up to her nevermo hairdresser and said that in her ward a letter was sent out to the members "that with the bad economy the members should not be patronizing nonmormon businesses but should be only using services of mormons so they are able to help each other out financially during these difficult times." The hairdresser said she is sad to lose the mormons business and asked if she would return to her, the mormon said she could not because if her mormon very active husband found out he would be so angry with her for going against instructions from the priesthood.
Now, if this practice were REVERSED you would see the "persecution of mormons" cry raised up to the rooftops.
