Authorities in Guyana grew "uncomfortable" with the presence of Mormon missionaries who have been ordered to leave the South American country, a governing party leader said Thursday.
About 40 missionaries were briefly detained Wednesday and told to leave within a month as authorities said their travel documents were out of date.
Comments by Donald Ramotar of the governing People's Progressive Party, however, suggested the crackdown went beyond immigration

He said opposition legislator Volda Lawrence traveled to Utah as a guest of the church two years ago, although the church also invited the pro-government head of the race commission, Juan Edghill, to visit.

You might try actually knowing about what you're speaking about before spouting off. The wording is that you would sooner have your life taken than to reveal that information, i.e. you would under threat of death sooner die than to reveal it. That's a vast difference and certainly not the same as YOU WILL HAVE YOUR LIFE TAKEN. Can you name anyone whose throat was slit or was disembowled for revealing these things, because a fair number of ex-Mormons have done so and are very much alive and kicking.
Much easier to tear down other religions than to share what you believe in a positive manner, isn’t it? You should spend more time questioning your own beliefs when you’re forced to resort to that, rather questioning the beliefs of others. I’m sad for you.
Wow, that comment almost made sense, esp. since I never called them a cult. Maybe another couple days and some real wit will kick in. I'll listen out for the "clank."
Well the LDS Church does do a great deal of charitable work among the impoverished of Latin America including by the way giving interest free education loans to many to get college and technical training. But the temples are for bringing people closer to God. All people, rich or poor, bond or free, need that—more frankly than the comforts of life. Why would the impoverished be in any less need of spiritual things than of worldy things? Why would that be of any less benefit to them? Seems like something a liberal would say. Do you condemn church building by other religions in Latin America including Catholic cathedrals? Most LDS Temples these days are as small as an average sized church building.
I take it that is part of the “charity work” of which you speak.
Save the “voluntary” bit, responsible charitable people would have said no, God bless you but let us help, there is no need to suffer and never would have taken advantage of those less educated.
We are also aware of how limited access is to these marble monstrosities. It is not like the wooden church I helped built in Central America that is Church on Sunday, a Clinic on Saturday and a school the rest of the week, all built sans dental work. Even Catholic Cathedrals are used for multiple functions and paid for by the world wide church, not out of the mouths of the locals.
BTW welcome and enjoy the ride.
Looks like we have a new player...
Elsie: I guess OTHER folks will do the throat slitting and the disemboweling for them.
MB: You might try actually knowing about what you’re speaking about before spouting off.

I think Elsie means the oath about slitting and disembowelling apostates and Gentiles AKA Christians just for being non-mormons..
Thats part of an oath in the temple...
New? Maybe.

Actually they dont even feed those folks...
The Morg considers it not worth the effort and a waste of money because they cant get any tithe money out of them
Why do you think the Morg cons the poor in those country to give up their teeth to buoild useless temples that they are then unworthy to enter ???
The mormons dont give...they take...
and they certainly dont pay for any schooling..

But not the one in Brazil...
And just where are those little ones ???
How woudld they reach their gods if their temples are little and short
I've no reason to question my own beliefs, they are from the living God, not from a self proclaimed "prophet". I have the testament of Jesus Christ, I have no need for one from Joseph Smith.
You're sad for me? We are even then.
Sounds a lot like Masonic ritual. Wonder why that is?
And where did the Masonic rituals originate from? The stone builders who worked on the original Solomon’s temple and passed the Jewish temple rites down through the ages in their own Masonic rites, which came of the temple rites given of God to the Jews in Solomon’s temple.
And again, the idea of throat slitting, etc. has nothing to do with having anyone killed for revealing temple content—but that rather one would allow their enemy to kill them before revealing the sacred rites revealed in the temple. Again, can you name anyone killed for having revealed these things? No. The church would be shut down and its leadership arrested for practicing a criminal conspiracy. So obviously the meaning is what I am indicating and not what you think it means.
Anyway, I’m done trying to provide truth to someone so intent on believing lies.
EXPANDED COMMENTS FROM MY PRIOR POST: And where did the Masonic rituals originate from? The stone builders who worked on the original Solomon’s Temple in ancient Israel and passed the Jewish temple rites down through the ages in their own Masonic rites. These came of the temple rites those stone builders observed as they worked on the incomplete temple structure, rites given of God to the Jews in Solomon’s Temple.
Thus they have a divine origin and were part of what has been restored to the earth in the latter days through prophets. Also, I have friends who are Masons and Mormons who say the Masonic temple rites actually differ significantly from the LDS rites. Thus while the rites have some similarities, they also have been corrected and perfected as revealed in the latter days through prophets over what the Masons passed down and thus diverge in many respects.

That's kind of what I figured. You're in the One-Standard-for-me-but-another-Standard-for-Thee Club, eh? (Or are you one of its general authorities?)
Here you outright label someone comparing Joe Smith's church to Jim Jones' church as engaging in "demonizing" Smith's church -- as if Jones' church members were "demon incarnates" -- as you issued forth your pulpit sermon to graybeard.
But then when I spouted one of your Ten Commandments right back at you as having failed miserably upholding, why was no repentance evident? Was it mere pride? Two-faced hypocrisy? Or is it possible your standards weren't worth the time to type up & issue forth?
Next time, if you're going to preach a standard you're exporting to others, ya might want to first consider living by it.
You don't get it, do you? You keep issuing forth standards like not "tear[ing] down others" just a few quick sentences after tearing down someone else by calling them a "bigot". If you're going to preach a standard, live it.
Otherwise, the masquerade is plain to see for all of us -- and it's not even October yet.
More tearing down of Graybeard's religious beliefs -- all as you preach your "gospel" of not tearing down religious beliefs? Why do we even bother responding to you. You refute yourself -- so you may want to introduce yourself to the second side of you.
I believe “MissesBush” may be a retread, the attack style is very familiar but then again, they all seem to be that way.
