It appears the Crusades are now being conducted in reverse.
The holy war was called to free the Church of Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem from the clutches of Muslims.
Nearly one thousand years later, it’s reported that the Obama Administration is in the process of giving the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the Temple Mount, and other sacred sites back to the forces of Islam.
Militant Christianity is now in full retreat.
The surrender of the sites is advocated not only by the Vatican but by leading mainline Protestant denominations, including the Presbyterian Church (USA), the United Church of Christ, the United Methodist Church, the American Baptists, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
George Mitchell, Special Envoy to the Middle East, is meeting currently in London with Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to lay the foundation for the Obama Peace Plan. So far the Obama administration, Mr. Mitchell and the Israelis are mum on this so the jury is out as to whether the reported plan is disinformation or a "test canary" or a preview.
The plan, according to Al-Uzak, calls for the creation of an independent Palestinian State with the old city of Jerusalem as its capital. It also includes the following elements: •Some parts of eastern Jerusalem, including Neveh Yaakov, Pisgat Ze'ev, will be transferred to Israeli control. •An international presence of NATO forces will be established in the Jordan Valley and other parts of Judea and Samaria. •The Palestinian Authority terror organizations will be disbanded and turned into political parties. •The large settlement blocs in Judea and Samaria will not be dismantled. •The fate of smaller Jewish settlement areas will be decided in a three-month-long negotiation period. A reporter for the Saudi newspaper received the information from Hassan Harisha, the Second Deputy Speaker of the Palestinian Authority Parliament (PAP). Harisha told him that the Obama Administration has handed over a draft of the peace proposal to Palestinian leaders and other Arab authorities.
The plan also calls for Judea and Samaria to be demilitarized and for its airspace to remain under Israel control. Israeli-Palestinian Authority security coordination would be strengthened, and the Palestinian Authority state would not be allowed to strike military treaties with other countries in the region.
An “agreed number” of Arab refugees would be absorbed in the Jordan Valley area and in other parts of Judea and Samaria – especially in the area between Ramallah and Shechem.
An international fund would support the refugees and Israel would release Palestinian Authority prisoners three years after a diplomatic accord is signed.
The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is venerated by most Christians as Golgotha (the Hill of Calvary), where the New Testament says that Jesus was crucified, and is also said to contain the place where Jesus was buried (the sepulchre). The church has been an important pilgrimage destination since at least the 4th century, as the purported site of the death and resurrection of Jesus.
The Temple Mount is the holiest site in Judaism. Jewish Midrash holds that it was from here that the world expanded into its present form, and where God gathered the dust he used to create the first man, Adam. The Torah records that it was here that God chose as the place of His Divine Presence. Two Jewish Temples (the Temples of Solomon and Herod) were built at the site. According to Jewish tradition, the Third Temple will also be located here, and will be the final one.

I believe that the position of the Vatican is that of the original UN partition plan where Jerusalem would become an international city.

If I'm not mistaken Muslims have shared custodianship for centuries with the Catholic Church and Greek Orthodox. And remember the Vatican recognized the existance of Israel 16 years after Egypt, a year after Jordan. Despite the fact that the secular authority is no longer Muslim, they're clearly comfortable with joint Muslim control.
These ARE NOT "mainline Protestant denominations". They are all far left fringe groups that have wandered from the teachings of the bible.
Well, to answer the question that is really being asked in the headline, “One cannot give something to something that does not exist.” There is no God named Allah. There is a moon that these nutbags worshipped at one time and now apparently have determined is the God of all creation. In the meantime, the real God, the author of everything, already owns everything (all the cattle on every hill, etc.) so we cannot GIVE him anything since it’s HIS already.
But, I understand the greater point of the article which is that the Muzzies might end up with the rights over the place. Oy.
