I have no knowledge of that day’s events, but I cannot imagine a priest giving holy communion to a non-Catholic.
What does it mean if he did? He’d cut open a living human being and eat the still beating heart if he thought it would help him curry favor with a group that would keep him in power.
I happen to turn on near that part and noticed that the camera panned away (showed choir, etc) during Communion - you could not see who did or did not receive.
I can’t believe anyone on FR would have watched the Kennedy death circus...
Bubba received hold communion in Africa IIRC
Bubba received holy communion in Africa IIRC
My impression was just as the Media portrayed the sickly JFK as vigorous and athletic and lied about his many physical ailments(back problems, Addison's disease, colitis, STD’s etc), the Media is lying about Ted Kennedy's many moral flaws and trying to falsely portray him as a man of sincere faith with a strong moral and spiritual code.
As we have all witnessed, if you are rich and powerful, the Roman Catholic Church will make “exceptions” for non-Catholics to receive the Eucharist. Why not? If the Church will conduct the funeral rites for Ted Kennedy, it is capable of doing just about anything. There is a profound division in what the Roman Catholic Church supposedly believes, and what it practices.
Why not? Notre Shame gives him an honorary degree and Georgetown covers up the IHS and cross for 0bambi’s pleasure.
It won’t be long before Matthews reports on the wine changing into vinegar and the feeding of thousands with 2 fish.
If true, this is one of the possible fallouts and scandals the Archdiocese of Boston (Cardinal O’Malley) encouraged when allowing Ted Kennedy to get a full and public Catholic funeral.
Some boston newspaper is the only reported answer to this I saw. I do not have the link at this moment.
They said he did not, he stood up to let others (Biden’s?) pass.
Sound's like you may be racist. Why would you deny Obama communion? Clinton got communion. Where was our concern then? Why are we not concerned about Biden, Pelosi, and Kerry? It's because Obama is Black, isn't it? Obama is the second coming anyway, what's the beef?
Q. Who was allowed to take Communion?
A. Communion in Catholic churches is restricted to Catholics in good standing, but no announcement was made, there was no reference to a restriction in the program, and anybody who came forward would receive Communion. Camera angles were restricted so that they did not show exactly who took Communion, but the prominent non-Catholic elected officials, such as President Obama, remained in their pews during Communion.
Yep. When 57% of Catholics voted for him. Except it was unholy communion.
A non-Catholic can go up and get Blessed by the Priest but Communion, never. He may have gotten a Blessing which is a cross on the forehead.

The guidelines for receiving Communion, which are issued by the U.S. bishops and published in many missalettes, explain, "We welcome our fellow Christians to this celebration of the Eucharist as our brothers and sisters. We pray that our common baptism and the action of the Holy Spirit in this Eucharist will draw us closer to one another and begin to dispel the sad divisions which separate us. We pray that these will lessen and finally disappear, in keeping with Christs prayer for us that they may all be one (John 17:21).
"Because Catholics believe that the celebration of the Eucharist is a sign of the reality of the oneness of faith, life, and worship, members of those churches with whom we are not yet fully united are ordinarily not admitted to Communion. Eucharistic sharing in exceptional circumstances by other Christians requires permission according to the directives of the diocesan bishop and the provisions of canon law. . . . "
Scripture is clear that partaking of the Eucharist is among the highest signs of Christian unity: "Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread" (1 Cor. 10:17). For this reason, it is normally impossible for non-Catholic Christians to receive Holy Communion, for to do so would be to proclaim a unity to exist that, regrettably, does not.
Another reason that many non-Catholics may not ordinarily receive Communion is for their own protection, since many reject the doctrine of the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Scripture warns that it is very dangerous for one not believing in the Real Presence to receive Communion: "For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself. That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died" (1 Cor. 11:2930).
Searching around the Net, it appears the live feed at the funeral (there was only one) panned away to a group of singers (for 10 minutes no less) at the time the Obamas would of been receiving communion.
He’s a devout muslim, so I doubt it . . . unless he wanted to insult all Catholics
Shame on you. That's how rumors get started.
That's all the "evidence" you have and you start a thread about it? Next week somebody will assert what you said as a fact.
Don't we have enough to worry about without taking every stupid rumor for the truth?
