Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord: It is on my heart to front money to feed children in the name of Christ, and I wanted your recommendations on some excellent places I could trust with the money the Lord has entrusted to me.
Is "World Vision" at $35 a month the only and best way to go? Who else is in this ministry/mission that you trust?

Compassion International supports CHRISTIAN children.
One of the requirements to receive financial aid is to attend Bible based classes. If they opt out, the aid will stop.
I don't think World Vision requires a Bible based class be taken. Most of them support Muslims and everything else with NO Christian influence. We don't support that. We believe in extending financial aid - Christianity also needs to be presented rather than just $$$.
We highly recommend Compassion International

You can include money for Birthdays or special gifts. They run a school and of course Bible is one of the courses. They are fiscally responsible and you do hear from the child. It's a very nice program.
I know that a lot of FReepers are Salvation Army supporters.
Shepherd’s Purse, initiated and guided by Franklin Graham, seems to do much good.
As Christians, should we feed hungry Christian children, or ALL hungry children.
We have supported children from Compassion International for years and have even heard from some who have long since left the program and moved on to college. It really does help. They are also highly rated as most of the money goes directly to the children or local programs. A lot of studies have been done on these types of charities, I know a few weren’t legit, but Compassion was held up as the standard for how to operate and they were shown to actually support the kids, not just have generic pictures sent out.
I support Compassion International. I trust them.
This is what they do..
This is more than academic to me. I gave up a 6 figure career to go feed young servicemen after 9/11. Dad thought I was crazy, but I kneeled, and he gave me his blessing, as an elder and deacon.
Did it cost me a lot (not just in money)? yes. Would I change a minute of it? no.
Most prudent course seems to feed all the children. Even our young men and women in uniform, with our own hands preparing the food. But that's just me.

“As Christians, should we feed hungry Christian children, or ALL hungry children.”
I gave that careful thought. Since we lack a money tree ... we chose a young girl from Thailand. There Islam is an issue. We chose to fund her as a CHRISTIAN - to give her strength to remain a Christian. I am not comfortable funding an Islamic child where CHRIST IS NOT SPOKEN ABOUT. For us it is not about the MONEY but about CHRIST, so for us, a REQUIREMENT is to have the opportunity ti introduce them to CHRIST - that is what is MOST important to us. Just feeding hungry children is NOT what it is about for us - it’s about CHRIST.
Slavation ARmy is another top notch organization. They speka of Christ with your generoisty. It’s not like SECULAR orgnaziation that just throw money and things at people.

Yes, Compassion Internation RESPECTS your money and makes the most of it in a Biblcally CHRISTIAN way. I have nothing but praise for them.
Our little girl is 11 in Thailand and plans on becoming a teacher. She is very sweet. With God’s help we will make that happen for her.
Does your church not have a foreign missions program of its own?
I think we all want kids fed, regardless of their religious belief, which at the sometimes very young ages are probably not worked out, anyway.
I think the concern is, we sacrifice to send food aid to a child in Indonesia, and it gets distributed by the local Imam, and they have to go to the mosque to get it, and get the idea that it’s Muslims who care about the needy in this world.
My impression is, we don’t want to spread evil with our charity.
After the China quake I sent my money to Operation Blessing. They were already there and on the ground and I was sure it wasn’t going to the Chinese gov’t.
They have one of the top ratings.

Please check it out. I was fortunate to go on a mission trip to Honduras last year through CFCA to see the organization in action,
I was very impressed.
You are encouraged to write to the people that you sponsor and it is so heartening to hear from them. What we take for granted here is unheard of for them.
Only $30.00 a month makes a world of difference in their lives!
I wouldn’t say what you are doing is wrong. Bur Christian organizations shouldn’t ignore the plight of nonChristians.
And by the way, Christians feeding hungry people without requiring them to convert is a powerful way to witness. Usually, it’s worth more than a warehouse full of apologetics. Maybe it shouldn’t be, but thats the way it is.
