But the bottom line through all the encyclical's verbiage and diversions is that the pope advocates putting control (and enforcement authority) of the U.S. economy in the hands of non-Americans.
That is an astounding suggestion. If an American advocated this it could be construed as treasonous.
The next step is to take the world off the petro-dollar and onto the euro-dollar. At that point this country officially becomes a member of the third world.
IMO this is no innocuous document about helping the poor. It is a shot across the bow aimed at America's sovereignty and her status as world leader. Rather than rationalizing this assault we need to denounce it in the strongest words possible.
It used to be they would boil the frog slowly. Apparently now the need for pretense is gone and they're brazenly stoking the flames right in our face.

Good assessment.. America is still the monkey wrench in the machine of Global Socialization.. America MUST be hamstrung.. by boiling the frog..
Bit by bit inexorably making way for a political sea change..
All actors are being manipulated including the Pope..
And protestant leaders as well..

Just two, to be exact. We just copied what they did.

Good grief, Dr. E., I am simply astonished that you read Caritas in Veritate as being, in any sense, a "political document." Moreover, Pope Benedict didn't advocate any of the above things you impute to him. I diligently looked for evidence in the text that could support your allegations. I found: exactly nothing. Perhaps it's "there," but I simply missed it. If so, kindly do point it out to me?
Bottom line: "Love in Truth" is NOT primarily about "helping the poor" in some socialistic sense. What it IS about: the aching need for spiritual regeneration of persons and peoples worldwide. The very Creation itself is "groaning" under the weight of its absence.
My two cents' worth, FWIW.

It is a shot across the bow aimed at America's sovereignty and her status as world leaderThat's right, these "leaders" are re-making the world and making no bones about it. None of them care a gnat's whisker about "the poor in africa", why right now, China is gleefully raping Africa for it's minerals, land and human labor, and nothing is done about it, they've just picked up where previous nations left off.
The world's poor, and soon to be, all of us, are destined to be manageable cattle, that's what the elites think of you. It's the same story of Pharaoh, Egypt and the Israelites. You can leave spiritually.
Globalization is against God, He put the nations in their places, set their boundaries, and that is how the world was meant to be.

Here's one thing that jumps out at me while reading Caritas in Veritate, the author comes at the social problem and solution, that Christians may have a love for "the world", but fails to consider that the world does not love Christians or Christianity, and moreover, Christ told us so. So it's doomed from the start. We are in this world, not of it, and meant to be salt, not salt that has been watered down and lost it's taste.
