The group "Catholic" Democrats has issued a statement, "Catholic Democrats Deplores Ambassador Glendon's Undiplomatic Withdrawal from Notre Dame Commencement." It's an amazing little piece of disingenuous character assassination, especially this:
"It is unfortunate that Professor Glendon would repeat the Republican talking points to justify her decision," said Dr. Patrick Whelan, president of Catholic Democrats. "Like many conservative critics, she conveniently sidesteps any acknowledgement of President Obama's pledge to reduce the number of abortions. Ambassador Glendon's statement knowingly ignores the President's leadership in moving the nation past the deep wounds of racial prejudice and advancing a spectrum of social and economic justice issues at the heart of our faith - including a new focus on strategies to reduce abortion."
I don't know of any "conservative critics", including Glendon, who "conveniently sidesteps acknowledgement of President Obama's pledge to reduce the number of abortions." On the contrary, there is the obvious disparity between Obama's pledges and his actual actions. I suppose that is a key difference between real Catholics and "Catholic Democrats": paying attention to actions instead falling for empty pledges.
But, even worse, what is being insinuated in saying, "Ambassador Glendon's statement knowingly ignores the President's leadership in moving the nation past the deep wounds of racial prejudice ..."? What, exactly, does race and racial prejudice have to do with this issue? Is this meant to suggest that anyone, including Glendon, who does not meekly toe the line when it comes to what Pres. Obama and his "Catholic" patsies say or do is somehow racist?
Read the entire statement and draw your own conclusions.

"she conveniently sidesteps any acknowledgement of President Obama's pledge to reduce the number of abortions." if the sentence concluded with ... "to zero by outlawing the practice by executive order" then he can have his Catholic kudos. Anything less is still a crime against humanity.

"While we are disappointed in Ambassador Glendon's decision, we know that the majority of Catholics in the United States support the President because they feel he represents Catholic values across the spectrum of moral issues," said Steve Krueger, national director of Catholic Democrats. "The Catholic Right is caught in a web of the political Right and is out of step with Church teaching on matters of political culture. Yeah, right -- the President's overall leadership on moral issues (e.g. can't harshly interrogate terrorists who would kill us) overshadows the little matter of killing innocent human life, even as the child is about to be born (/sar).

Yep... Obambi said as much during the primaries. I know and remember that specifically.
He basically said that if someone didn't vote for him it was because that person was probably racist.
That was the final straw for me.
Amazing that these so called "democratic catholics" can't even acknowledge their own faults about not following the faith by casting stones at others.
Like the Pharisees of old.

“Catholic Democrats”???
What an oxymoron.
There can be NO Catholic Democrats unless they vote WITH the teaching of the Church — and God — on all measures.
Perhaps they don’t realize that their party platform has a horrid plank which promotes, promotes, promotes abortion at all costs.
