Yet Jesus taught us all “Our Father”. A good old Hebrew prayer.

With freedom of religion in this country, I don't expect Jews to teach about Christ..Without freedom of religion, I still would not expect a private Jewish school to teach Christianity.....
.The body of your reply is not relevant to one religious school not teaching about a different religion Catholics would be upset if islam was taught in their school instead of Catholicism. Baptist would not teach the Mormon religion..Why should Jews teach Christianity?

Really?

I’ve seen many of the articles you’ve posted. Sometimes they’re fascinating. But then again, sometimes they’re like this (you posted the following over the last two days):

“Sacha Baron Cohen is a fraud, says senior Republican tricked into bedroom (Ron Paul)”

Read that headline again - to yourself - and then look at what you posted here: “...there are worse things to worry about.”

Sacha Baron Cohen? So, we shouldn’t talk about what Israeli schools are doing, but we should worry about a Jewish comedian who embarrassed Ron Paul?

Or how about this one:

“Peoria Gays React to Unwelcome Sign (”WE ARE NOT A GAY BAR!!”)”

So?

“Police Pay Overtime for Patrols Involving Octomom”

Again, who cares? Is anything that Octomom does now really anymore important or newsworthy than any Israeli school? Well, besides that fact that she has a whole class worth of kids in her house...

“Hitler Paintings ‘Go Under the Hammer’ in Germany”

Israeli schools crank out ignorant kids is just as newsworthy as Hitler paintings at auction - except for real history buffs perhaps.

“Rihanna to Perform in Dubai”

So?

“Michael Jackson: Jacko’s ‘Thriller’ voted ‘Greatest Album of all Time’”

So?

I’m not trying to pick on you, but NYer’s article here is WAY MORE IMPORTANT than ANYTHING about Rihanna or Michael Jackson’s career high points from 25 years ago.

I’m just saying...

So there is a great deal of ignorance within the Jewish community with respect to Catholicism and Christianity. That ignorance is manifest in the positions, policies, and actions of individual Jews and the nation of Israel. It shows that Judaism remains a religion of exclusion just as it was when Christ came to bring the New and Everlasting Covenant and extended the faith to all peoples.

That's God's plan...It's all in the Scriptures...

Who would expect a Jewish school to teach Christianity?

When I went to Catholic high school, we covered other religions in a comparative theology class.

In any event, it is an increasingly globalized world, and Israeli kids will need to understand the viewpoints of the people in the rest of it.

Christianity is part of history as is Judaism and Islam. The sooner we get to know each other, the better our chances to live together in peace.

You and your church will not bring peace for the Jews, ever...

They will see no peace until Jesus returns and that, after He stomps out the phony peacemakers...

“Name the school, name the curriculum, what course number is the course of Judaism? What’s the name of it?”

I know someone who teaches at a high school in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin (McDonell Central Catholic High School). He teaches 9th and 10th grade religion. There is an entire course (one quarter; block schedule; so it is 90 minutes each class, five days a week) on the Old Testament.

There is also an Introduction to the Catholic Faith class (one quarter again) that spends time on Judaism, sacrifices, the Temple, etc.

There is a New Testament course (again one quarter) and time is spent on the Judea in the era of Christ, the Judaizers, destruction of the Temple, etc.

There is a class on the Sacraments and Prayers of the Catholic Church. That course, naturally, discusses the prayer life of Jews, again Temple sacrifices, etc.

He also teaches an elective on Theology of the Body - where as he has put it several times - he practically never gets out of Genesis.

The course outlines barely give a hint of what is covered regarding Judaism, but I know it happens because I know what this guy teaches there.

I think you would be surprised at how much teaching about Judaism, at least Old Testament Judaism, goes on in many Christian schools.

Christian kids are often so much better informed about Judaism than Jewish kids are about Christianity that even Jewish leaders have been calling for improvement in that area for some time. Here’s an example of that call: http://www.interfaithfamily.com/spirituality/spirituality/Cry_for_Change_With_Improved_Catholic_Teachings_on_Judaism_Some_Jewish_Leaders_Seek_Hebrew_School_Overhaul.shtml

Secular humanism.

Now you don’t have to wonder anymore. See how easily knowledge can be passed on to those who seek it? :)

Here we see - much to the shock of some Catholics - that a rabbi was teaching in a Catholic school: http://www.remnantnewspaper.com/Archives%20-%20News/archive-news-2005-1115.htm

Then read the Old Testament...everything we need is there, even Yeshuah.

The New Testament covers 30-40 years...the OT starts at the beginning of time.

IMO, they are both a wonderfully complete package...but no detail is unimportant...nothing is out of synch!

The Word is indeed...the Word!

I don’t think that will surprise many people. I found out even the infamous Bishop Williamson invited a rabbi to his class at the SSPX seminary.

I think what that is somewhat our of context, since some of those articles are in different sections, but I will stand by this:

I feel it people who try intrude on our lives and freedoms are more relevant that people who leave us alone. You disagree, fine.

For example, homosexuals groups trying to control every facet of our life (as in the article you ridiculed me for) is more important than the fact that a Jewish school is offering a less than ideal education, but leaving us alone. If I should be pilloried for that, so be it.

The relevance of that Octomom post that it is costing taxpayers money. That may not be important to you, but to a lot of Freepers how their tax money is wasted is important. Sorry.

I think it would be reasonable for Israeli schools to teach about Christianity, at least from a historical point of view. Israel and the Islamic Middle Eastern states are among the few modern countries that have a state sanctioned “established” religion, so it’s hard for us to understand their approach. But a reasonable survey of the people who live around you shouldn’t be too much of a burden.

Considering that Christians, and theologically conservative Christians at that, are Israel's only ally and hope for survival in this world, they ought to be paying a little more attention to who their friends are.

Name the school, name the curriculum, what course number is the course of Judaism? What's the name of it?

Uh... all of them. Without Judaism there would be no Christianity.

Jesus was a Jew from the line of King David(which kind of puts the lie to Rev. Wright's sermon about how Obama and Jesus were black men from poor families...) Either way all the prophets an heroes of the Bible were prophets and heroes of the Torah first.

Those in Israel know that one of their ally’s is Christians in the US I have heard Bibi Netanyahau speak of this many times...I further doubt that Israeli citizens are as ignorant as some in the Middle East...They had friends in the gov’t until the democrat’s took over and Obama was elected president. Democrats in power are no friends of Israel.I could be mistaken but your post sounds a little like your offended about the idea that Israel schools don’t have a curriculum you approve of. I apologize if that is not the case..

I think most rabbis are very intelligent. Jews have always prized intelligence and education. When it comes to a group, however, I think a room full of cardinals or bishops would surpass a room full of rabbis, in terms of intelligence, any day. They have deeper as well as broader educations.
