The University of Notre Dames 2009 commencement speaker: President Barack Obama, one of the most powerful proponents of abortion in the history of the American Republic.
The recipient of Christendom Colleges Pro Deo et Patria Medal for Distinguished Service to God and Country, to be awarded at Christendoms 2009 commencement: Priests for Life founder Father Frank Pavone, one of the most dedicated defenders of unborn human life in the history of the American Republic.
Its quite a contrast, isnt it?
And its the sort of stark contrast that will remain burned into the memory of Catholic parents of prospective college students, as those parents consider which Catholic universities can be relied upon to provide a suitable environment for the higher education of the children who have been entrusted to their care by God.
ND gets five times as many applicants as they have spots to fill.
I know one family whose dtr was going there and now seeking another university.
It is good to hear of people that have scruples
planned parenthood is probably the most powerful organization in the world, besides the chuch. They appoint presidents.
As a graduate of Christendom, I never thought I’d see that headline. Christendom doesn’t even have a football team!
Even in the 80’s, I knew that Notre Dame was long gone.
That's fine, but let's be brutally honest here . . . Notre Dame is nothing more than a giant secular corporation that owns a mediocre football team.
They are recruiting our oldest, a highschool sophomore, but even with family alumni, they will not be considered now.
**ND gets five times as many applicants as they have spots to fill.**
If this keeps going and alumni withold their donations, Notre Dame will not even be able to open their doors.
And, not to brag or anything, but both of them could have easily gotten into Notre Dame. Indeed, I was speaking to a Notre Dame student roughly a year ago about the whole V-Monologue thing, and pointed out that's why my kids would go to a real Catholic college instead of ND. Snottily, she told me that, of course, not everyone could get into ND. I asked her her ACT score. My son's was higher. I asked her her class rank, my son's was higher and if my daughter stays on track, she'll be way higher.
The ND student, poor thing, simply couldn't understand why anyone would go anywhere else.
“Notre Dame is nothing more than a giant secular corporation that owns a mediocre football team.”
Of course you’re right. I don’t think it’s really been “Catholic” for quite a while, and the same’s true of some other Catholic schools. Still, for whatever it’s worth, a degree from ND carries some weight in later life.
