Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the cutest clergyman of all? A 66-year-old Staten Island pastor trying desperately to turn back the clock ripped off nearly $85,000 from his congregation to pay for plastic surgery, Botox shots and fancy clothes, authorities said yesterday The Rev. William Blasingame, 66, a fixture at the historic St. Paul's Memorial Episcopal Church for more than 30 years, began breaking the Eighth Commandment in January 2005 and continued to steal for another three years, according to the Staten Island district attorney. The unwed Blasingame's miraculous makeovers apparently impressed some of the older members of his congregation. "He is a favorite of the elderly and 65-plus crowd," a law-enforcement source said. "He was a real schmoozer."

No matter how outlandish a story you think up in an attempt to parody the Episcopal Church, the reality will catch up and pass you.
I just thank goodness it wasn’t one of ours...
I was wondering how this guy was bearing false witness against his neighbor, then I realized the reporter was using the "other" numbering system for the Ten Commandments. Ironically, I think the Episcopalians, like us Lutherans (as well as the RCs, of course), count "You shall not steal" as the Seventh Commandment.
But nobody's done a thing about the homosexual Episcopal priests, and believe me there are plenty of them.
(I'm reading between the lines here - lifelong bachelor, plastic surgery, some people were "creeped out" by him, and he spent some of that stolen money on unspecified "clubs". They don't say it, but that's the way to bet.)
About 2 years after we left the Episcopal church, our former rector was found to have stolen a bunch of church money.
Alas, these sorts of shenanigans seem to be pretty universal among clergy of all denominations. I offer to you one Ted Haggard for proof....
Hmmm. . . .
I. I AM the LORD thy God; thou shalt have no other gods before me.
II. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
III. Thou shalt not take the Name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his Name in vain.
IV. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work; but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God: In it thou shalt not do any work; thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates. For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day; wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.
V. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
VI. Thou shalt do no murder.
VII. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
VIII. Thou shalt not steal.
IX. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
X. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
This is the usual Protestant lineup (splitting the Catholic I into I and II and merging the Catholic IX and X into X)
Like the priestess who was Director of Religious Education in Washington State, who decided she could be an Episcopal priestess and a Muslim at the same time . . . or the Episcopal priest and priestess couple who were running a Wiccan coven on the side (as priest and priestess) . . .
As my daddy would say, "That boy ain't right!"
Looks as though he said to the doctors, “Make me look real gay.”
He looks like the Cat Woman. Anybody here remember her?
I think we all know the answer...
looks like a woman. i assume he is homosexual...as are all the Episcopalian priests who are not lesbian.
Well, the Lutherans number them like the Catholics do. I figured the Anglicans/Episcopalians, being more of a historic, liturgical church also, would do likewise.
Old ladies always love two things: (a) queens; and (b) sociopaths. I have an elderly family member whose seal of approval on any male is virtually a signal for everybody else to run in the opposite direction. The guy is either a raving queen or he's stalking your bank account or even the coins on your bedside table.
What a pathetic creature!
He looks a little like Hugh Laurie (House).
