Dear Lord, During this day when we remember the incarnation of Your Son, Jesus Christ, we pray that the significance of that great event will not fall on deaf ears in this nation. May this nation return to her roots. May she look to her God. And may she repent of her murders and adulteries and blasphemies and apathy. May she lay aside the celebrity culture and return to Your ways and Your truth. And may she be healed of the liberalism which affects her thinking.

Lord, as the days edge towards inauguration, we are observing an America which is deeply divided. Siblings are against siblings and parents against parents. And it seems as we watch things progress, that evil is winning. Yet, we know that this condition is not permanent nor is it real.

Even among conservatives there is a divide. Most fear for their nation and what is to come. Others are angry. Others strangely optimistic.

Unite Your people Lord. Those who know what right is, let them know it more clearly than ever before and shun that which does not conform to Your Word. And cause them to pray as never before. Turn the heart of this nation to You. You are our only hope.

Lord, we pray for President-Elect Obama's salvation. Only if he is fully submitted to You will he stand a chance of being anything more than a total disaster.

Forgive our nation for electing someone who does not regard the life of the unborn, nor regards Your Word concerning homosexuality. Forgive us for having ears but not hearing and having eyes but not seeing the truth. Forgive us for the little and big sins we commit each day. And redeem this nation as Your own is my prayer.

We love You Lord. Please be pleased in us. For it is in the name of Jesus, the Messiah, the Root of Jesse and offspring of David who came to be born in Bethlehem as a man, that he as a man might bring redemption to mankind, it is in His name that I pray these things. Amen.

Father, thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to be our savior, pour our Your eternal Holy Spirit upon this country, so that we may realize the gravity of our sin. Your relentless love for us is without end, and although we must deal with the consequences of our sin, if we repent and turn from them, you will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Lord, our world is flooded with all kinds of “spirituality” promising to provide help to fill the hole in our souls, but none of it brings the internal satisfaction we hoped for. Only You Lord Jesus can lavishly satisfy our deepest longings. Thank You for the work You did on the Cross, and for finishing all that was necessary for our salvation. On this night, Christmas Eve, I pray that our great Nation receive God's blessing, and that she be saved from the many dangers and disasters which are with us, and which loom on the horizon.

Tonight I pray that our President and President-Elect seek and receive God's guidance, and that they govern with a steady hand and wisdom. I pray that if that is not possible, that at least they do no harm.

Tonight especially I pray that the world, and America in particular, find resolution and peace through greater understanding and spiritual humility.

Tonight my family is very far away, and I am alone in my house on Christmas Eve. Yet with my FRiends I am not really alone, and I can join them in prayer.

For this blessing, I give mighty Thanks.

Lack of attendance at a Christmas service shows Barack Obama’s church dilemma

Sadly, not surprising. The type of church he likes is the one that will get him into political trouble and even worse, spiritual trouble. Perhaps God may yet use his ‘dilemma’ in order to get him into a place where he can hear and respond to the true gospel. That is our prayer at least.

Lord, I thank you that you have given us an intercessor that makes us holy and without blame before you in love. We accept your precious gift to us although there is nothing we could ever do to earn it.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8

Father, we accept Your precious love, and in receiving that love, we lift up our President-elect and ask that you bless him with wisdom, knowledge, and an unstoppable fire of righteousness such that this nation will have You at the head. Please save us from our own iniquities and make us a shining light for the world again. Make this nation an attraction for the world rather than a promotion so that others will seek You out. In Christ name I pray, amen.
