The music "takes your thoughts where they should be," Christensen says. "You listen, and shivers run up and down your spine. You listen, and you smile, and you are thankful. You listen, and you wonder how Joseph Smith could do all he did. He was obviously chosen by our Heavenly Father and was the right man at the right time, but you still appreciate again all that he did."

I understand that Joseph Smith was a con man who, years before he “discovered” the tablets, conned people out of money by telling them he could find gold with a couple of magic stones he found. And that he wasn’t martyred, but murdered by the parents of some of the young ladies he was trying to defile.

The Mormon history is very unique . . . and controversial . . .

Joseph Smith was a daydreamer and liar! Those who have fallen into the Mormon cult have done because they did not read the Bible closely and heed what it says. Smith wrote his own Bible in direct violation of Revelation 22:18 “I solemnly declare to everyone who hears the words ofprophecy written in this book: if ANYONE adds anything to what is written here, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book And if anyone removes any of the words from this book of prophecy, God will remove that person’s share inthe tree of life andin the holy city that are decribed in this book...”

I think that as usual, folks from outside the Church will tell others things that are just not true.

Today is Joseph Smith's birthday. Here is how this day was celebrated at BYU three years ago.

Photobucket

The text on the sign reads as follows:

"We are the beneficiaries of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, a work which had its earthly commencement with the birth of the Prophet Joseph Smith, in the hills of Vermont on a December day in 1805. As we commemorate the birth of the baby in Bethlehem, the Savior of the world, may we also remember his messenger, Joseph Smith, and rejoice in his life and sacrifice."

the fact that Joseph Smith was born in the season in which we celebrate the birth of Christ.
________________________________________________

Well, thankfully, that’s all....

Jesus was not born on december 25, but some time in September or there abouts...

The mormons really should find someone with a Sept birthday to worship...

As to the Dec 25 date...

There was a pagan celebration that day/week that the Christians were conpelled to attend to, so they chose that day to celebrate the birth of Jesus that day..

The Mass of Christ came about because they had to celebrate Jesus in secret...

Now, a pagan holiday does fit with Joseph Smith...

So the week of Dec 23-25 is an ideal time to remember ol’ Joe..

But not because there might be any relationship between the birth of Jesus, the Word of God made flesh, and the birth of Joseph Smith, treasurer hunter and conman...

By their fruits ye shall know them ...

I think Joseph Smith's birthday is the perfect time to reflect on his legacy. Here's my list of some of the fruits of Joseph Smith...

A prophet who taught:

  1. That Jesus and Satan are brothers

  2. That God had incestuous sexual relations with His daughter, Mary, impregnating her with Jesus

  3. That Christian pastors are "dimwitted hirelings of Satan"

  4. Of sacred scriptures based on pagan works such as prayers to Egyptian gods for dead spirits – which were supposedly translated using occult devices such as peep stones

  5. That God is a polygamous celestial stud married to our Heavenly Mother, whose name is so sacred we are not to say it out loud

  6. Of Kolob and of other worlds named Planet Oblish and Planet Enish-go-on-dosh ruled by a governing power through the medium of Kli-flos-is-es, or Hah-ko-kau-beam

  7. Of prominent display of Satanic symbols such as pentagrams, baphomets, earth stones, and saturn stones on his churches' religious buildings and literature

  8. Of portraying Satan as the god of this world and having him teach church doctrine in the Mormon temple ceremony

  9. Of the wearing a fig leaf apron in temple ceremonies to symbolize Satan’s power and priesthoods

  10. Of offering prayers to the devil in the temple ceremony – Oh God, hear the words of my mouth – and of praising him in the sacred rites by chanting Hebrew words whose translation is Marvelous Lucifer

  11. That husbands can resurrect their wives from the grave

  12. Of having special grips and clasps in order to tell ghosts from angels and the devil

  13. Of practicing baptism for the dead

  14. Of wearing magic underwear to protect from physical harm – with symbols so sacred that they must be cut out and buried and the garment burned when it wears out

  15. That the Ten Lost Tribes and the apostle John will be discovered living in cement houses in a tropical land adjacent to the North Pole separated by a high mountain range

  16. That men about six feet tall, dressed like Quakers, will be discovered dwelling on the moon where they live for about 1,000 years

  17. That science will prove the earth has knobs on each end

  18. That he was commanded by God to retranslate the Bible because the existing translations contained errors – eventually devising an Inspired Revision completed in 1833 – which was rejected by his church who still uses the King James Version

  19. That his followers are not saved by grace, but instead are burdened by a complex series of rules and regulations which determine their progression as gods of their own planets and the ultimate size and quality of their harem of goddess wives

  20. That he was greater than Jesus

Hymns lauding Prophets are common in Christendom. The fact that a Mormon would write a hymn that praises someone they consider to be a Prophet should come as no suprise. The Bible itself contains hymns/Psalms praising the prophets like, Duet. 34.

For a traditional example heres part of the Olney Hymn about the prophet Moses

When Moses wav'd his mystic rod What wonders foll'd while he spoke? Firm as a wall the waters stood Or gush'd in rivers from the rock

Take a look at a Baptist, Protestant, Methodist, Catholic etc. hymnal and you'll find such examples lauding the Prophets.

Of course since we are in the Christmas season there are those hymns that laud the Virgin Mary as well like Ave Maris Stella from the 9th century.

Merry Christmas

Given what I have seen here, I must repeat:

I think that as usual, folks from outside the Church will tell others things that are just not true.
