When I was 20, I suffered a skull injury *so* bad, my parents were told to “buy a box”.
They said *if* I lived, I would most certainly be a vegetable.
My equally hard-headed dad sat by my hospital bed 24/7, praying.
On the 11th day, I suddenly, shockingly woke up.
After the initial “freak out” of where was I/why am I here?, I demanded a cheeseburger.
[after 11 days, I was -starved-]
They fed me, let me have a shower and I went home that day.
In addition to the massive damage incurred on the entire right side of my brain, I have absolutely *no* frontal lobe left.
It was pulverized to useless sludge by the impact and the damaged tissue was absorbed by my body.
For *many* years, MRIs showed nothing but a fist-sized “hole” in my brain. [insert “hole in your head” jokes here] and later ones showed that scar tissue had filled the hole.
Yet here I am, with a *much* higher IQ than I had pre-injury and not only am I *not* a vegetable, I’m quite verbose and intelligent.
Not only that, if I *had* died back then, I’d be in hell, right now.
God’s mercy, miracles and grace?
I can write ~volumes~ on *that*....:)
Great to hear your story. God Bless and Take Care.
The real person is the soul, and the brain is merely a tool. Of course, it is a very good and useful tool. But it is not the source of consciousness. You are proof of that. People are not meat machines; our real identity is eternal soul, just inhabiting the bodies...for a while.
A wonderful story, thank you for telling it.
WOW.
Thanks for your story.
So that's why you contribute to Conservative sites. ;^) God bless and Merry Christmas.
