Do Angels Exist? (A miracle and a picture have many asking this question)
WBTV ^ | Dec 20, 2008

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A "miracle" at one local hospital has a lot of people talking.

This picture was taken in the hallway leading into Presbyterian's Pediatric Cancer center.

A little girl there was taken off life support, her mother in her room praying. At the same time, a nurse noticed a man standing in the hallway. When she pushed the security button to let him in, no one was there.

According to a nurse, this happened several times -- seeing him behind the doors, then he would vanish.

Someone thought he had wings, so they took the picture (on the right) of the security camera.

The girl is home tonight, recovering. Her birthday is Christmas Day.

So what do you think? Is this an angel caught on tape?

Funny you should say that.

My so-called “expert neurologist” got so angry with me, afterward, that he forcefully ejected me and my mother from his office with orders to never return.

It seems, you see, that I was technically/statistically/medically/logically “not able” to pass all of the cognitive tests he gave me.

Nor should I have been able to blindfold-taste even the slightest difference between things he had me sample, given that I no longer had ~any~ sense of smell.

I screwed up his curve, wrecked his paradigm and altered his comfy "reality" so much that he didn't like it one little bit.

[you'd have thought they'd want to study me and find out *why* everything was “working”, instead]

I have absolutely no idea what part of my brain [or *whatever*] is “taking up the slack”.
I'm simply thrilled that is...:)

And you're very welcome.
It's not an easy story to tell but occasionally, it helps somebody to cope with their own brain injuries.

I used to freak people out with my MRIs.

I also had no hearing for a while until they operated on my “good” ear so I bleached my hair and told everyone I was “deaf and blond”.

[weird sense of humor, here...we all “cope” differently]....:)

I wonder if when this happened to you was awhile ago? I think they know now that even with a lot of brain damage, the brain compensates and the other areas start working, and/or working harder. Too bad your doc wasn’t more receptive and wanted to study you more - perhaps the medical advances would have happened even more quickly.

And not to say that you didn’t have your own angel watching over you. But in a sense, I think that the human body (heck- all of nature for that matter) is a miracle!

I was born in that hospital 58 years ago. The doctors wanted me to be born in a larger hospital due to the fact that I was expected to have complications from the Rh factor. I did, but they were able to do an exchange transfusion. I not only survived, but got along much better than my three older siblings. Two of them were boys, one of which was born dead (most likely due to a 36-hour labor rather than the Rh factor) and the other only lived three days.

I have an angel story as well. The husband of a good friend of mine tragically drowned in a boating accident leaving three young sons behind. The youngest son was so devastated that Debbie was at a loss what to do to console him. She is a devout Christian and spent many nights holding Matt in her arms as he cried himself to sleep and as she prayed for strength and guidance. At the same time, she was struggling to run her husband's very successful real estate business and was wondering if the decisions she was making were the right ones. She, of course, had not told the boys any of her concerns about the business.

One morning, Matt woke up in an obviously different frame of mind. He told his mother that he had talked to his Dad the night before. Debbie tried to tell him that he must have been dreaming, but he insisted that his father had come, sat on his bed, and talked to him. Matt said that his Dad had told him that everything was going to be alright and that he had a message for Debbie. He wanted Matt to tell his mother that the decisions that she was making about the business were good. Since Matt did not know that she was worried about the business, Debbie believes to this day that it was Rick, an angel, or both that came to visit Matt that night and I do, too!

Mercy and grace indeed!

3 years old and lost? You’ve been keeping your guardian angel busy!

When I was around 3 or 4, we were stationed in England. We were with company in a two-story house (I think it was our home); the adults were downstairs while their little boy and I were upstairs playing. My mother said they heard a blood-curdling scream, so they all ran upstairs and caught the boy before he fell out of the window. A man radiating light stood in the corner of the room next to the window; he reassured me that it was okay to scream (I wasn’t a noisy toddler nor did I understand that the boy was in danger). The man was so calm and matter-of-fact that I did what he said, after which he disappeared, and I didn’t feel as though anything unusual had happened until my mother mentioned the incident years later.

My mother also had what she thinks is an angelic experience. Before England, we lived in France in a hotel; she was worried about something, perhaps the surgery for my partial clubfoot; one day she saw a light hovering over my crib and felt everything was going to be all right (which, of course, it was).

March 29, 1981.

The “technology” for brain injury back then was “strap them down and keep them from hurting themselves if they seize”.

Other than being tied down I think the only other thing they did was give me cortisone for the brain swelling.

[it was a very ‘backwoods’ hospital, too]

Even though I was totally “gone”, I still kicked and screamed.

[Heck, immediately after the accident, I got up, bleeding from *every* hole in my head and insisted on finding the horse and taking him back home before he got out on the road and got hurt. They literally had to wrestle me into the ambulance. I kept getting away and heading home.]...;]

The nurses hated tending to me and tightened the restraints but one kind doctor told my dad that all my struggling might be a “good thing”.
He said possibly it meant that I was fighting to regain consciousness and live.

Reckon he was right...:)

I credit my dad’s prayers and God listening to them.

My neuro-doc was one of “those people” who know everything and simply refuse to accommodate or acknowledge the unknown.

If it’s not in the book, it can’t exist.

That is just...amazing.

I simply have no fancier words for it.

“You’ve been keeping your guardian angel busy!”

*ahem*

He's *always* had his hands full....;-D

[I was a *very* precocious, fearless and “adventurous” little brat]....LOL

Oh, and that’s not at all what an angel looks like.

I do believe in angels.

I have my doubts that this is a picture of an angel.

It's good that we have an expert like you to inform us all what angels do ( and do not) look like.

Could you tell us (and perhaps show us) all what angels do look like?

Your father must be a righteous man. My pastor always says there is something special about having a righteous parent/grandparent praying for you. I wish I had that.

"They WANT to believe their fantasies."

A very poor character study. The report from the eyewitness testifies they intended for the person to walk through the doors, so they opened them for the person, on repetitive occasions, then wanted to believe the person didn't exist when they turned around and didn't see the person.

On both occasions, when they WANTED to see the person, they couldn't, and then when they WANTED to not see the person, they saw the person.

The volition of the observer was independent of not only one, but multiple witnesses. So if it is a false report, it is conspired by more than one eyewitness.

Do you always look for conspiracy theories?

Interesting testimony. Have you had a chance to read any Wilder Penfield or Arthur Custance?

I can’t claim to have seen an angel, but I know that I and my family have certainly been watched over! Especially me - I was just telling my kids that I should have been dead MANY times over. (”Workin’ them Angels - overtime”)

It sounds like you had a run in with a horse. Me too. Just a rookie on a horse up in the mountains, trying to keep up with the others and got thrown off as we crossed a small creek. My brother’s horse came running up from behind and hit me in the head and knocked me out cold.

I was okay, but my head sure hurt! The owner of the horses was freaking out, and then couldn’t believe that I got back on after I felt better. “What - you think I’m going to walk the 10 miles back to the ranch?” Of course looking back I realize how fortunate I was.

In spite of some personal hardships this year, it is good to remember how blessed we are - even with Life itself and this Christmas Season. Agreed - a great thread!

Here’s a rock and roll song by Rush. From their latest CD and live DVD version, with some videos of soldiers, workers etc. with wings on their backs. We are surrounded by angels in more ways than one.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUERRMdGBkM

Workin’ Them Angels, by Rush

Driving away to the east, and into the past
History receeds in my rear-view mirror
Carried away on a wave of music down a desert road
Memory humming at the heart of a factory town

All my life
I’ve been workin’ them angels overtime
Riding and driving and living
So close to the edge
Workin’ them angels - Overtime

Riding through the Range of Light to the wounded city
Filling my spirit with the wildest wish to fly
Taking the high road to the wounded city
Memory strumming at the heart of a moving picture

All this time
I’ve been workin’ them angels overtime
Riding and diving and flying
Just over the edge
Workin’ them angels - Overtime

Driving down the razor’s edge ‘tween the past and the future
Turn up the music and smile
Get carried away on the songs and stories of vanished times
Memory drumming at the heart of an English winter
Memories beating at the heart of an African village

Interestingly, most reported photos of angels are simply points of light, but this picture comes closer to matching Scriptural descriptions of angels. Cherubim with four wings and Seraphim with six wings, it is consistent with a cherub.

Nope...In all encounters with angels in the scriptures, they all appeared as men, without wings...

The fact that they do appear without being recognizable as angels is made in the book of Hebrews?

Heb 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
