Christian leader urges Islamic control of Temple Mount
Claims his community 'belongs to the Palestinian national cause'
JERUSALEM A top Christian Palestinian leader here yesterday urged Islamic control of the Temple Mount while claiming Israel was threatening the site's famous Al Aqsa Mosque.
"Regarding threats against the Al Aqsa Mosque from fanatic Jews, what is threatening you is threatening Christians. One who is attacking you is attacking Christians. We are one family and one people, and we belong to the Palestinian national cause," said Attallah Hanna, archbishop of Sebastia from the Greek Orthodox Church of Jerusalem.
Jerusalem's Greek Orthodox Church is regarded by Orthodox Christians as one of the most important churches in Christendom. It has 100,000 Christians followers in the Holy Land and is also one of the largest landowners in Israel.
Hanna was speaking to Islamic leaders yesterday gathered at the Al Aqsa Mosque.
He went on to urge the Waqf, the Mount's Muslim custodians, to "keep fighting and protect Jerusalem." He thanked them for maintaining the Mount as a sacred Islamic site.

Be aware the dates given for the destruction and rebuilding of the Holy Temple in this article is that of secular "scholarship" and not Jewish Tradition.
Ping for your interest.
Looks like some “Christian” deserves the back of someone’s holy hand.
This man’s “Christianity” takes a backseat to his identity. He has another god, in other words.
A CHRISTian wouldn’t even suggest such a thing.
A “Christian” means to be “a follower of Christ” and nothing in the Bible would even suggest “Islamic control of Temple Mount.”
he’s not a christian.
Is he nukking futz???
I am Catholic. Call me what you will. If I went to Israel I would tell them they should just kick all the Muslims out of there and use whatever means necessary.
Get up in the Golan Heights and all you will see is enemies surrounding your country. Too bad they surrendered the heights...
Sadly, most of the ones who don't fall into those two groups have decided to leave. When you are a minority caught between two fighting groups, sometimes that is the best choice.
That's the problem. He's not a real Christian. Anyone can say they're Christian, but since he obviously doesn't know what the Bible has to say, his opinion means nothing. Jerusalem belongs to the Jews, because God gave it to them. Gods children have nothing in common with Muslims. We are not one people and we do not serve the same God. Their god is Satan. Our God is Jehovah. Woe be to those who divide up God's land. He IS going to repay! That mosque is coming down!IF the Jews don't tear it down, God will. The Messiah is going to rule from Jerusalem.
"for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children -- but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all." (Gal. 4:25,26)
"But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel." (Heb. 12:22-24)
"But to the Son He says: "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions." And: "You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands. They will perish, but You remain; And they will all grow old like a garment; Like a cloak You will fold them up, And they will be changed. But You are the same, And Your years will not fail." But to which of the angels has He ever said: "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool"?" (Heb. 1:8-13)
"Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear. For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself: 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool." ' "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." (Acts 2:30-36)
In other words, he supports the status quo, since the Moslems currently control the Al Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock.
No, he supports the status quo because he identifies with "the palestinian nation."
And the status quo isn't always a good thing (Rove v. Wade, anyone?).
The last time he shot his mouth off in this manner, he was suspended for a duration of two months by the Holy Synod of the Church of Jerusalem, presided by Patriarch Theophilus III.
Sounds like the Synod needs to include him on their next agenda.
Greek Orthodox Arabs are the most anti-semitic of the Middle Eastern Christians.
Is there a Middle Eastern chr*stian who isn't anti-Semitic?
The Greek Orthodox Arabs are in a class of their own.
