It's 10:00 am here on the west coast so nine housrs would pray Sarah through the debate on the east coast, I believe. Say any prayer you wish -- perhaps even a prayer for her Guardian Angel to guard and guide her since it is the Memorial of the Guardian Angels.
I know some of you don't like your prayers associated with politics, and that's OK. Just let me know so that I won't ping you next time.
(An option would be that you can pray for Sarah as a person and leave the politics out of it.)
PS. I was asked to do this by a couple of FReepers, so am complying at their urging.
The Chaplet of St. Michael
[Introductory prayers]
O God, come to my assistance.[Say one Our Father and three Hail Marys after each of the nine salutations in honor of the nine Choirs of Angels]
O Lord, make haste to help me.Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
[First Salutation]
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Seraphim may the Lord make us worthy to burn with the fire of perfect charity. Amen. Our Father ...
Hail Mary ...
Hail Mary ...
Hail Mary ...
Thanks, eastsider.
I also wonder how many Catholics know that they can pray the following prayers at the end of each Mass (after Communion) to call down the Holy Angels to assist us in fighting the spiritual (and other) war against the modern world.
Hail Mary
Hail Mary
Hail Mary
Our Father
Prayer of St. Michael
Glory Be
We have started doing this at my church (after the urging of a friend and what she was told by the Blessed Virgin in prayer.)
Amen! Wait for the LORD. Be of good courage. Don’t get into defeatism.
Saint Ignatius Loyola and Saint Thomas Moore, pray for us.
Our Lady of Victory, pray for us.
Now lets go get ‘em!!!
We do the prayer of St. Michael after each Mass, including our Saturday evening Tridentine. I’d attended a number of parishes throughout my life (well before my conversion) but had never heard it until I started attending my current parish. It’s wonderful!
Yes, and thanks for reminding us! St. Thomas More, ora pro nobis!
Lord, I pray for Sarah Palin.
Calm her, and clear her mind of any worries or doubts so that she can focus on her task at hand.
May her voice not waver and thoughts not cloud.
May her ears hear the pitfalls and traps that are set.
May her mind convey her thoughts without fail.
May she be the instrument of your will.
Amen.
Matthew 19:26, Mark 10:27 (and Salvation’s tagline!)
You need more confidence in yourself - that’s a very nice prayer!
Amen. Amen. Amen.
PS - Loved reading about the role the Divine Mercy played in you and your wife coming into the Church. Beautiful. Welcome Home!
I shall include her when I pray the rosary this afternoon.
Mercy indeed... the bishop who confirmed us went home to be with the Lord 7 months later, so we were probably the last people he confirmed.
Joining you in prayer. I am so glad that there are serious prayers going out for this debate.
I also received an email from Lou Engle at The Call:
Urgent Prayer Point for America
Dear Friends of TheCall,
As you know, for years we have stood in prayer for the ending of abortion. Tuesday night a key friend of mine received this dream:
I had a very short dream, yet it is an exhortation to pray for the vice presidential debate this Thursday evening.
In the dream, I was reading Friday’s paper (the day after the debate). There were two papers. One said, “Palin hits a home run,” while the second said, “Palin strikes out.”
As I was looking at those two papers, I found myself back at the debate and saw the darkness and powers surrounding the event. Great darkness had been assigned to the debate, and the church was not seeing it nor taking it soberly.
Would you pray with thousands of others today and during the debate tonight for God’s supernatural hand to attend this profound Esther moment? Thank you!
Lou Engle
[Second Salutation]
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Cherubim may the Lord grant us the grace to leave the ways of sin and run in the paths of Christian perfection. Amen. Our Father ...
Hail Mary ...
Hail Mary ...
Hail Mary ...
Please tell me a prayer to say — if I don’t know it I will look it up and read it. Thank you.
When we’re camping and go to another parish, we say the Prayer to St. Michael anyway.
He is our Patron of camping and we have a statue that I got at the Christian bookstore (!) which is put on the counter of the camper when we set up.
I will use that prayer for now..
O yeah! As righteously right-on as a prayer could ever be.
