** There he headed a monastery and during the next thirty four years completed his translation of the New Testament of the Bible into Latin and completed the a translation of the entire Old Testament from its original Hebrew texts into Latin.**
Vulgate reference for all.

who commissioned him to prepare the first complete Latin translations of the four gospels, St. Paul's epistles and the Psalms from their original Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic texts.Really??? So Jerome had Paul's original writings, letters written by David and Job, and the original Aramaic written Gospels...
Seems a little odd that your church would have preserved Jerome's writings but been so careless to lose those 'original' autographs...
Uh, I guess Jeremiah was lying then, in his writings...

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

Some see the world as a Dan Brown novel.
That’s what happens after the abandonment of the God-given gifts of logic and common sense.

Some, while claiming a love of Christ, are so deluded by the deceiver that they harbor hatred toward Christ in their hearts. It is eating away at their immortal souls and does great damage to the Body of Christ. I find it very sad to observe their sickness.

I don't get what you're saying. I'm not on top of the history of the individual writings, the actual pieces of paper. But when I say "the original Greek" I don't mean the original piece(s) of paper but a (usually edited with footnotes and variant texts) copy.
Are you saying
- That Jerome claimed to have the original pieces of paper, "autographs" of the Apostles and Evangelists;
- That the church still has the original pieces of paper that were handled and written upon by Jerome?
- That anybody, say, 1,500+ years ago knew how to preserve parchment (dried lambskin) and paper?
Even modern non-archival paper only lasts a few decades, and that's in houses with heating and air-conditioning. I guess I don't understand what claim you think that Jerome made and which turned out to be false.

The “original texts” were probably passed down from generation to generation by means of copying them to new material. Since they were of such important interest to the people keeping them and such items decay easily - I would expect that to be the case.
The fact that Jerome was commissioned to prepare the first complete Latin translations of the four gospels, St. Paul's epistles and the Psalms is proof at how careful “my Church” (actually it is God's Church) was at the time.
Careless would be making the senseless accusation of “lying” based on a ridiculous idea that the absence of “originals” from thousands of years ago is proof that people lied.

I'm just letting them know there's not an ounce of truth in it...

AND, these texts jive directly with the manuscripts of the 'Received' or Majority Texts which the Catholics avoid at all costs...
AND, that many of these Old Latin texts currently reside within the Orthodox Church...
AND, that Jerome retranslated these Old Latin Texts into his own version of Latin, hence the Latin Vulgate...

Thats what happens after the abandonment of the God-given gifts of logic and common sense. Some folks who completely disagree with you theologically also make the claim they are relying on this God-given logic...
But hey, let me ask you a question...
Are you imbued with this God-given logic in all areas of your life, ie., mechanics, electrics, physics, science, nano-technology, etc., etc.??? Or did you just get the 'gift of logic' in theology???
Like I told you before; logic is for people who don't know something...A little bit of education or experience clears up all kinds of logic...

Some folks who completely disagree with you theologically also make the claim they are relying on this God-given logic...It's not about disagreeing with me, it's about disagreeing with the Church founded by Christ, the Catholic Church.
It's not about God being on my side, it's about me being on His.

So you're saying that when they said "original Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic texts" you (or some person to be names later) thought they meant the original manuscripts, the "autographs"?
Well, that's not what most people mean by that, but since it's unclear and since someone who wasn't familiar with the language of scholarship might think it mean the original pieces of paper, I suppose it's good to clarify for that person that that is not what is meant.
However, to say that there is a lie involved is another thing lacking an ounce of truth. It takes a special kind of effort to parlay ignorance of the language of scholarship on the part of person A into a lie by person B.

It takes a special kind of effort to parlay ignorance of the language of scholarship on the part of person A into a lie by person B.So it's not a lie??? Not a fib??? Just the language of 'scholarship'??? The person repeating the 'language of scholarship' has been deceived as well as the person hearing it...But that's ok...Cause it's the language of scholarship...
I like to call a spade a spade...It's deception...No more, no less...
