Steeling herself, the 44-year-old asked to be told over the phone that day in December, when she was four months along. The diagnosis? Down syndrome.
I've never had problems with my other pregnancies, so I was shocked. It took a while to open up the book that the doctor gave me about children with Down syndrome, and a while to log on to the website and start reading facts about the situation.
[My husband Todd said,] we shouldn't be asking 'Why us?' We should be saying 'Well, why not us?' We've both been very vocal about being pro life. We understand that every innocent life has wonderful potential. I'm looking at him right now, and I see perfection. Yeah, he has an extra chromosome. I keep thinking, in our world, what is normal and what is perfect?
Sarah and Todd Palin welcomed son Trig Paxson Van on April 18th. He is now two weeks old and joins siblings Track, 18, Bristol, 17, Willow, 13, and Piper, 7
Does she not have a husband and does not the child have a Father? She is the loving mother of 5 children. They all needed attention and love and it seems she has been pretty good at giving it to them up til now.
What is interesting is that I saw a similar sentiment by another poster and you and them both just signed up to FR recently?

I like the name Trig. I think it is cool. I think the name Obama sounds like Osama!!!
My best friend gave birth to a Downs child and she has been SUCH a blessing to everyone. She’s around 22 now, loves Jesus, prays for people, loves on ya, dances, sings, does a lot of housework for her mother, and brother when she visits him and his large family. She is much loved by all of us. Downs children/adults are extremely special.
I’m traditional, too, but I think this will work. I’m sure she’ll have a nanny, AND, don’t forget — this is VP. Not a busy job at this point. Will they live in DC? Alaska?
This is so sickening that they are talking about punishment in having a Down’s baby.
I have a Down’s Syndrome grandson, and he is a darling.
