i take it that McCain potentially selecting Tom Ridge as VP to help win Pennsy would not be warmly received then?
McCain should pick Cantor and take Virginia and Florida and balance his ticket with a 100% Conservative.
I don’t think he would be warmly received, however I’m not sure the typical voter would know about his pro-choice stance whereas the typical Catholic voter most likely would.

I don’t think I could imagine a more disastrous move. I think Catholics tolerate some degree of social liberalism in Giuliani as mayor of New York because he’s more conservative than anyone else they’d ever get as mayor and the mayor of New York isn’t going to have any pull, for instance, in overturning Roe-v-Wade. But Ridge would be a gratuitous slap in the face, like Judge Myers. (And don’t think it’s a coincidence that Bush’s 2nd pick was Catholic!)
