I don’t think I could imagine a more disastrous move. I think Catholics tolerate some degree of social liberalism in Giuliani as mayor of New York because he’s more conservative than anyone else they’d ever get as mayor and the mayor of New York isn’t going to have any pull, for instance, in overturning Roe-v-Wade. But Ridge would be a gratuitous slap in the face, like Judge Myers. (And don’t think it’s a coincidence that Bush’s 2nd pick was Catholic!)
Republican VP from PA, not a lot to choose from. Santorum badly damaged goods. Arlen sick looking and too left anyway. Ridge looks the part, but I guess that ain’t enough.
