We’ve got cala lilies here. Are they the same as day lilies?

Nothing like them. Wild day lilies or “tiger lilies” tend to bloom mid June to mid July with varigated orange petals on 30 - 36 inch stems. The petals can be used as an edible garnish on salads and taste like a carrot with fuzz.
