There are no extraordinary Christians

I guess that depends on how one defines 'extraordinary'.

I’ll have to read this later. I’m don’t want to condemn this article yet. IT may be correct!

Heb 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.

“Holy” being defined as separation from the world. Of course, this article would claim separation from the world to be a bad thing. Some sort of evil “pietism.”

His so-called “ordinary” Christianity is actually not ordinary by New Testament standards.

To a hammer, all problems look like nails. The author issues a legitimate warning. I have seen firsthand the damage that can be done by elitist movements. But it seems a stretch to label some of his examples as "pietism."

For example, the "purpose-driven life" may have other problems, but producing super-christians is not one of them. At the individual level, it is a call to balance the practices of the Christian life. As the author of the article points out, faith that does not produce action is simply mental assent. It is not pietistic to teach the practice of faith.

This author seems to want to seperate Christianity from religious experience, the mystical and spirituality.

Monasticism is not for everyone, but some people want to devote their lives to living a certain way.
