This Southern Baptist has got to go with Dasher on this one.
Dr. Eckleburg, have you ever asked any Catholics if they worship Mary? I have. And while I can’t speak for Catholics everywhere, here in the South they get offended at that question and emphatically deny that they worship Mary.
Now yeah, Catholics have this wierd custom of asking dead saints to intercede on their behalf, that is supposed to be no different than going to a live saint and asking for their intercessory prayer. And I think it’s wierd, only because I don’t believe a dead saint can hear them unless the Holy Spirit passes the prayer along. So that boils down to asking God to tell Saint Joe that you want Saint Joe to ask God about something. Wierd, but otherwise harmless.
Pope John Pual II referred to Mary as the "co-redeemer" six times in public speeches.
This is the religion forum. Religion issues are discussed. Do you believe titling Mary as the "Co-Redeemer" is the correct Biblical approach in light Scripture?
"In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins" -- cOLOSSIANS 1:14"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." -- 1 Timothy 2:5
If you think this is far-fetched, consider one of the earlier Catholic caucus threads which applauds the designation...
Thank you.
Raised Catholic. Catholic School. Altar boy. Never worshiped Mary or was taught to.
It is a lie.
I am a monotheist. Mono. One. Trinity - one God, three aspects. Jesus suffered & died for my sins so I might enter heaven.
Christ our hope. That is what Catholic Christians are taught.

Roman Catholics in the Philippines certainly don’t deny that they actually worship the blessed so-called virgin, who didn’t die a virgin — she had other children after Christ was born. It was only necessary that Jesus Christ be virgin born, not his half-brothers or half-sisters.
So in your particular flavor of Protestantism, you don't believe in life after death??? To Catholics, the dead are not (dead)---they are more alive than they were in this life on earth, with some fraction in Heaven, some in Purgatory, and some in Hell. Those in heaven are "prayed to" (dulia, not latria), those in Purgatory are prayed FOR, and those in Hell pitied.
What do YOU think happens when you die???
I used to deny that I worshipped my intellect, too.
I used to deny that I worshipped books, too.
I used to deny that I worshipped various pastors, too.
I used to deny that I worshipped various group affiliations.
Denial is such a handy defense against the truth.
I don’t think that
ANYTHING
which detracts from; hinders; subtracts from; interlopes on
ANY ASPECT
OF
my RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
or
GOD’S ROLE IN MY LIFE
to be harmless.
