So in your particular flavor of Protestantism, you don't believe in life after death??? To Catholics, the dead are not (dead)---they are more alive than they were in this life on earth, with some fraction in Heaven, some in Purgatory, and some in Hell. Those in heaven are "prayed to" (dulia, not latria), those in Purgatory are prayed FOR, and those in Hell pitied.
What do YOU think happens when you die???
Thank you Danny!!!
I loved your post. It shows that although we have different ideas, we can talk on a thread and not constantly slam eachother.
I have said many a time, I love the kind and Loving Non-Catholics on FR. And I would count that as MOST.
Lord Love you Danny! You are truly blessed in the ways of Christ.
I believe in life after death. I just don't believe that past saints are omnipresent or omniscient. (I don't know that with certainty, but I would be surprised if they are.) Thus they can't hear you pray to them. And even if they happened to be present, they don't know your thoughts if you pray silently.
Thus, given my belief about the afterlife, it would require God's intervention and passing the prayer on, for the past saint to even know that you prayed to them.
