It's a hobby.
John Dowling wrote in the "History of Romanism," 1847, that the number of Waldensian martyrs during the first half of the 13th century in France reached two million. From 1160-1560 the Waldensians in the Italian Alps were almost completely destroyed as a people and most of their literary record was erased.
From 1540 to 1570 "it is proved by national authentic testimony, that nearly one million Protestants were publicly put to death in various countries in Europe, besides all those who were privately destroyed, and of whom no human record exists" (J.P. Callender, "Illustrations of Popery," 1838).
Catholic historian Vergerius wrote that during the reign of Pope Paul IV (1555-1559) "the Inquisition alone, by tortures, starvation, or the fire, murdered more than 150,000 Protestants."
Of course all this has little to do with this thread.
And what do you make of all these high-fiving RCs on this thread?
Sorry if you aren't able to see it that way.
**Not hundreds of thousands.**
Oh, well that’s much better then....
Ping to 22.
For those who take the time to look, there are skeletons in the closet.
It is a well established fact that over 100,000 French Calvinists were slaughtered during the St Bartholomew's Day Massacre, so the above claim is obviously incorrect..
Very informative.
Yep. Men, women and children over the course of a few days, pulled from their beds while sleeping and slaughtered for believing in grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.
1) I did not see any RC high fiving over Mary as Co-redeemer. I saw a typical RC vs PROD (un)civil war. As a Christian it disgusts and saddens me how bad both sides can be.
2) In the article you referenced I do not see co-redeemer as co-savior. There is a difference and a subtle point about Mary’s love for her son and her suffering and sacrifice is being made.
3) I fully understand that this point can be misunderstood easily by non-Catholic Christians (as well as many Catholics!).
4) I fully appreciate the un-ease my Christian brethren may have towards Catholic’s view of Mary. I further admit that there are probably many “catholics” who do cross the line into worship (just as there are many protestant “christians” who read horoscopes or maintain superstitions or other forms of idol worship).
5) Christians have more in common than we do that separates us - especially when we realize how many secularist and muzzie enemies we have. It is the tone of the disagreements which is upsetting. I think you and others would have a far greater influence and discussion would be more productive if the tone of the conversation was simply changed.
It is, and I was addressing a libel meant to attach a negative association upon all other aspects.
Huh? A "typical RC vs PROD (un)civil war???" On a Catholic Caucus Thread???
You won't mind, will you, if I disregard the rest of your comment since you apparently didn't read the link you're now trying to discuss.
As anyone can see, that link was a caucus thread and only Catholics were in the discussion.
“Dr. Eckleburg, have you ever asked any Catholics if they worship Mary? I have. And while I cant speak for Catholics everywhere, here in the South they get offended at that question and emphatically deny that they worship Mary.”
Roman Catholics in the Philippines certainly don’t deny that they actually worship the blessed so-called virgin, who didn’t die a virgin — she had other children after Christ was born. It was only necessary that Jesus Christ be virgin born, not his half-brothers or half-sisters.
I agree. Respect of Mary comes from respect for Jesus in a Jo Mama sort of way. We love you and yo mama. As a Catholic I was only ever taught that there is one god. Its in the creed that we recite every week. The only thing about Mary is that she was his mother. We respect his mother. Is there a bible that does not have Mary below Jesus on the cross. Does he not speak to her last. Does she not first along with the other Mary, find Jesus gone from the tomb. What is wrong with respect for Mary. She was important to him, so she is important to us. But she is not a god. She is not part of a god. Catholics are clear on this.
“Beware of Pussyism! Pussyism is always bad, and may lead to unchristian feeling; therefore beware of Pussyism!” - Robert E. Lee to Henry Hunt, Fort Hamilton, 1846, when this very conflict had seized the Episcopal community.
It’s a sermon by the great English preacher Charles Spurgeon who lived in the 1800’s. He is called “the Prince of Preachers” by many.
On the Religion Forum many topics are brought up. It has nothing to do with moozies.
St Barth’s Massacre itself was estimated by many at one hundred thousand.

More outrageous lies told about the Catholic Church. Outright lies, nothing less. Shame on any who post lies like this, those who distribute them and those who use these lies to harm the Christian community -- SHAME!
