I am posting this on behalf of many LDS freepers. They will post their own 'signature' to this in the comments below. --- Some of you have noticed lately a lot of LDS (ie: Mormon) threads here on FR. I'm going to tell you why.
For many years there have been several active LDS freepers here. We post to all the forums on relevant issues, and were happy to have a site where conservative values were so openly welcomed.
Those conservative values include faith in God, and freedom of religion. We fully respect the rights of all posters to express their opinions and views on religious matters, even when people choose to use those rights to express criticism of our own faith. We also support the ideas embodied in FR rules against religion bashing. There is no need for hostility and there should be no room for bigotry on FR. Every religion has it's miracles and mysteries. Every faith has things in it that are not or can not be proven, and things that run contrary to what secular science would have us believe. Someone mature and confident in their own faith generally doesn't feel the need to belittle the faith of others.
We have, to the best of our ability, conducted ourselves with civility and dignity. We do not feel that that respect has been returned by some posters (putting it mildly).
When Mormon missionaries were murdered, the moderators were kept busy pulling jubilant posts off the thread. When Elizabeth Smart was abducted from her home, we contended for months with posters who appeared to be motivated by religious bigotry doing all they could to smear the family and accuse the father. Several posters openly admitted their religious motivation in opposing Mitt Romney and confessed that no matter how conservative any Mormon was, they would never vote for one for President of the USA. When the Pope died, I don't think any Mormon poster posted anything unkind, yet the thread about the passing of our President recently needed many comments removed.
Nearly every thread having any connection with Mormons, or Utah winds up being hijacked by anti-Mormon activists who copy and paste the same false accusations over and over even when it has been clearly and factually pointed out to them on multiple occasions that they are bearing false witness against our faith. Everything possible is done by these activists to make FR a hostile place for Mormons, and for at least some of them, bashing Mormonism is all they do here. Their most recent project is trying to blur the fact that the polygamous FLDS is a separate and distinct religion from ours, just as Lutherans are a separate and distinct religion from Catholicism.
In our opinion, such poster do a great disservice to FR and to their fellow freepers by spreading disinformation and promoting hostility towards a people known for walking the walk of conservative values.
Why the moderators here don't see the behavior of these anti-Mormon activists as religion bashing is a mystery to us, but it is the moderators call to make and we respect their right to do so. That doesn't mean we have to be passive however. We have all spent many hours refuting the accusations leveled at our faith, but these wind up buried deep in a flood of comments, effectively shouting us down.
Recently some of us have decided to take a more proactive approach. Rather than try to wrestle the pig into taking a bath, we are just going to hose it down. We will actively define our faith here rather than just respond to accusations.
So expect to see lots of Mormon threads, now and for as long as we see fit to keep posting them (although probably not as many as there are Catholic threads). They will be about our basic doctrines and responses to common accusations. If you want to know what our faith is about, read the articles we post. We will post them as open threads and I encourage you to compare the difference in tone and spirit between what we post and what our critics say.
“Well actually, I believe that I am right in what I believe and I let Our Lord himself sort out the rest.
If the Pope is getting with the Mormons, hey thats fine by me.”
What is the message that you wanted to convey to Christians when you said that the Pope is “getting with the Mormons”?
And is the first sentence a description of what people call the liberal “buffet Catholics”?
>>(I guess youve never hear of praying for someone whos already died? People do it all the time.)<<
Well yeah I pray all the time for people who have gone before me. But I believe in Purgatory and that’s why.
But do you really think that Our Lord is going to give you a get out of jail free card because someone baptized you after you died? No. So what difference does it make.
Pretend they are boxers...it’s like pretending water is wine.
Of course I do. Disagreement is the proof of faith. Atheists dont disagree with God.

Really most aithests start off with disagreements - JMHO
I know many have been disppointed in life and blame God etc.
For some reason I have always been able or desired to see the bigger picture.
But than I always tried to understand what the Lord was trying to show or teach me.
Even my dyslecia I always tried to understand why give me intelligents and this affiction?
But I had this same attitude when I was part of the mainstream as we well as LDS and I have been blessed for it with spiritual insight.
I am not the Creator, nor paid the price for redemption and I am also far from perfect.
I know there are universal laws when I do the things my Lord tells me I will reap good resuslts, should I ignore I will be subject to the Telestial laws.
So if I disagree or argue with the Lord I am sure to reap a Telestial reward!
When I study the word of the Lord I not only know the laws to obey but I also am shown the principals behind it.
I am so thankful for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and when I strive to stay on the Terrestrial path my life maintains harmony.
It’s a matter of people forcing their beliefs onto someone else, dead or alive. My preference in funerals will be carried out, so why not what happens to my immortal soul? Believe what you want, but keep your cotton pickers off my soul. Period.
If you click on the URL with the "Mormon Name," you too, could have your very own Mormon Name! It has NOTINHG to do with religion. My home page is for fun. If it was something serious, and PERSONAL, I would not put it up to be ridiculed.
I suspect The reference to pigs was an example only, and nothing personal. He could have used a horse, a sheep, a bunny, a cat, a dog....Why should you have to take it on the chin if it was nothing personal? (Inquiring minds want to know.)

The Pope is meeting with the Mormons. Fact, period and frankly, I don’t really care what other Christians think of it. Doesn’t bother me, many of y’all aren’t our pals anyway. Last year The Pope released a statement stating that while people of other denominations are not “churches” in the Catholic sense, that doesn’t mean that they are not going to heaven. Catholics are apologists. We defend ourselves. If you want to see it our way, cool. If not, it’s your choice.
As for the Liberal “Buffet” Catholic, LOLOLOL! I belong to one of the most conservative parishes in the country, mentioned on EWTN and follow the teachings of the church I belong to. Apparently, you haven’t read too many of my posts.
But that’s the thing, nothing will happen to your immortal soul. You’re giving credit to their ceremonies over the Word of God.
You have already made the decisions that have saved you when you are gone.
I see your busy sharing the “love” of Jesus again. Somehow the “I’m included and ha ha you’re not” form of evangelism doesn’t seem to be working for ya. You’ve convinced no one to fall on their knees and repent yet. Nice job.
“Some denominations dont reject Mormons as christians”
Do you have links to the denominations that accept Mormonism as Christian?
The apocrypha is a subject I haven’t paid any attention to. I’ve never been warned to stay away from them but neither have I been taught that they are particularly important. Have you an opinion on them to share?
Catholics believe that the entire Bible is the Word of God. We read the Bible at every Holy Mass, one reading from the OT, one from the Acts of the Apostles and the Gospel.
Yes, all books are the Word of God. Even the ones that others don’t believe belong there.
The debate with Catholics comes in the idea that every person can read those words and get the right meaning. Personally, I know I’m just too thick to get it all.
Do you realize that Fred Thompson belongs to a restorationist Christian church which rejects the post-apostolic creeds. As do many other Christian denominations.
Even St. Athanasias of Athanasian creed fame was branded a heretic.
The Protestant view is that the 3 are 1. In other words, there are 3......but they are one. That's why the Bible describes them both ways. In our human form, we cannot understand it but we don't need to understand it. We simply acknowledge that God can do such things.
If we take your position that they are of one accord rather than one, it would seem to imply an order. God is #1 therefore Jesus is a lessor god or a Holy Personage. That's an Gnostic belief IIRC.
If I am dead, I am in heaven, hell or purgatory
*****
The LDS see Purgatory simular to our Telestial path its not the best place to be but it beat hell!
Do Mormons believe in Hell? Who will go there?
Did you know that men used to do their missions when they could afford it? Sometimes they had several kids before they did their mission.

I got the hostility, but I still don’t understand what you are trying to convey. All denominations have met and continue to meet with the Mormon church.
Are you saying that the Catholic church accepts Mormonism as Christian?
You clearly seem to be implying that the Pope includes Mormonism among the “other denominations” but I think that he was only speaking of Christian denominations.
My sister-in-law’s father served his mission while he was married with two young sons. This would have been near the time of WWII.
Personally, I know Im just too thick to get it all.
