My definition for "I have observed" is that it is a highly subjective in that two people can see the same event (say a retelling of Joseph Smith's vision) and observe completely different things, it's like an opinion, have a nice day (again a subjective measure)

Um, Emma did not object tot he Polygamy while Joseph was alive, or he could not have practiced it. Yes, she was commanded, and she obeyed, maybe you should look up the Story of Jonah.

There are so many things wrong with this "Scenario" you are proposing:

1. Joseph was planning to die just to prove he was a prophet? (kind of a one way thing you know?)
2. If he's a grifter as the term goes this is a singularly bad plan. (you can't profit from this irrevocable move)
3. Suicide By Cop would be resisting arrest, Joseph didn't.
4. The police have a responsibility to protect prisoners.
5. The mob that murdered Joseph Smith in cold blood intended to do just that, they said so after he was incarcerated.
6. The mob that took the Carthage jail thought they were attacking unarmed men, yet they had guns aplenty and were firing long before fire was returned.
7. The mob propped Joseph up against the well outside the building and continued to shoot him, (these are not the actions of people who would not shoot an unarmed man.)

I know, But The more silly things they say (this thread is an excellent example) the more likely a lurker is to want to see what all the fuss is about and Put our religion to "The Test" by Getting a Book of Mormon, and reading it, and performing the the Test contained in The Bible.

I have had Freepers FM me and thank me for leading them to the truth through this very method, I believe there are many more, but it does not matter, even if I save but one soul, it'll have been worth it.

The easiest way to find out about what we do is to look at the anchient church:

A number of early Jewish and Christian documents deal with elements found in modern LDS temples. As such, they are confirmation of the antiquity of our temple rites.1 The volume of information is such that it will not be possible to discuss all aspects in this brief paper. In addition to some of the articles I have written, I would refer you to the temple research written by such LDS researchers as Hugh Nibley, John M. Lundquist, Donald W. Parry, Stephen D. Ricks, and Matthew B. Brown.

Just as an example, let me note that I have, to date, found fifteen early Christian documents that speak of baptism for the dead, along with several Mandaean and Jewish texts. This information will be included in my article "Baptism for the Dead in Early Christianity," scheduled for publication later this year in another FARMS temples volume.

Even a Cursory study of Documents from the Correct eras (when the Jews had a temple) reveals that they had rites that were performed and these rites were not recorded in the Bible. (sound familiar?) The Masons got their rites by observing from the walls of the temple while working on it.

Do you deny that the Jews had rites that were performed at the temple that were not written down in the Bible?
