The FIVE SOLAS Of The REFORMATION . |
|
|
Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day. Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples. For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; He is also to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him, strength and joy are in His place. Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come before Him; worship the Lord in holy array. Tremble before Him, all the earth; Indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved. Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; And let them say among the nations, "The Lord reigns." 1 Chronicles 16:23-31 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! |
Let us, therefore, labour to submit to the sovereignty of God. God insists, that his sovereignty be acknowledged by us, and that even in this great matter, a matter which so nearly and infinitely concerns us, as our own eternal salvation. This is the stumbling-block on which thousands fall and perish; and if we go on contending with God about his sovereignty, it will be our eternal ruin. It is absolutely necessary that we should submit to God, as our absolute sovereign, and the sovereign over our souls; as one who may have mercy on whom he will have mercy, and harden whom he will.
- Jonathan Edwards, God's Sovereignty In The Salvation Of Men

CHRIST ALONE That there is no remedy but in Jesus Christ; there is nothing else will give you true quietness. If you could fly into heaven, you would not find it there; if you should take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the earth, in some solitary place in the wilderness, you could not fly from your burden. So that if you do not come to Christ, you must either continue still weary and burdened, or, which is worse, you must return to your old dead sleep, to a state of stupidity; and not only so, but you must be everlastingly wearied with God's wrath.

The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. Psalm 19:7 You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, Having Been Given By Inspiration of God, Are the All-Sufficient and Only Rule of Faith and Practice, and Judge of Controversies. Whatever God teaches or commands is of sovereign authority. Whatever conveys to us an infallible knowledge of his teachings and commands is an infallible rule. The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the only organs through which, during the present dispensation, God conveys to us a knowledge of his will about what we are to believe concerning himself, and what duties he requires of us.

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:1-2 For by grace you have been saved through faith, The truth which we plead has two parts: That it is faith alone which on our part is required to interest us in that righteousness, or whereby we comply with God's grant and communication of it, or receive it unto our use and benefit; for although this faith is in itself the radical principle of all obedience,-- and whatever is not so, which cannot, which does not, on all occasions, evidence, prove, show, or manifest itself by works, is not of the same kind with it,--yet, as we are justified by it, its act and duty is such, or of that nature, as that no other grace, duty, or work, can be associated with it, or be of any consideration. And both these are evidently confirmed in that description which is given us in the Scripture of the nature of faith and believing unto the justification of life.

He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, But the free gift is not like the offense. I think it well to turn a little to one side that I may ask my reader to observe adoringly the fountain-head of our salvation, which is the grace of God. "By grace are ye saved." Because God is gracious, therefore sinful men are forgiven, converted, purified, and saved. It is not because of anything in them, or that ever can be in them, that they are saved; but because of the boundless love, goodness, pity, compassion, mercy, and grace of God. Tarry a moment, then, at the well-head. Behold the pure river of water of life, as it proceeds out of the throne of God and of the Lamb! What an abyss is the grace of God! Who can measure its breadth? Who can fathom its depth? Like all the rest of the divine attributes, it is infinite. - Charles H. Spurgeon, All Of Grace RESOURCES ON THIS SITE

Would someone please post the correct Latin pronunciation?
bump
WHY?...
Because I don’t know how to properly pronounce the terms in Latin.
God is gracious and saves us, we have no choice in the matter.
After we are saved we praise the Lord and do good works.
This is because we were saved.

All you have to understand is what your first prophet told you:
...they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: "they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof."In short, there is nothing in the Five Solas that an LDS should believe, because it is "all wrong" and "an abomination" created by men who were "all corrupt".
Sorry, this would be making Christ corrupt and the sinless attonement, which He did on the cross sinful. Because of Christ's work upon the cross, in paying for sins of many. He deserves the highest praise and to have the highest honor - Christ Alone. For WORTHY, WORTHY, WORTHY is the lamb that was slain.
Secondly, Christ said none of His words shall pass away. We believe all the Bible (the cannon of 66 books) is written by God in Christ. 1 Timothy 3:16. Thus it is right to say Scripture Alone! For He says "Man shall not live by bread alone, BUT BY EVERY WORD OF GOD".
All the others follow. If your theology is based on God and His works, then all flows from that. If you begin with man, all things go downhill.

I quote your own prophet's words and conclusions back to you, and you call that "spitting on your efforts"? magine how the churches in Joseph's day felt. I hope he was handing out towels!
BTTT and Bookmarked
Too often the 5 Solas are looked at as stand alones.
It is important to understand each point, but it is also important to understand the sum:
We are saved by by Grace Alone, through Faith Alone, in Christ Alone as taught in Scripture Alone and to God Alone Goes The Glory.
The basics are this... God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life.
God the Father, gave his only Son, Jesus, to die on the cross so that in this one sacrifice all the sins of the ones who believe in him will be washed away, to be remembered no more. When one comes to faith in Jesus, Jesus gives that person the Holy Spirit to help him and guide him through this life, sanctifying him until death. Then that man will never see death again, he will be in the presence of God the Father forever.

I come here to learn of others and you basicly tell me to go away.
That is a shorthand way if saying it - salvation is an act of God, not an act of man.
Man has the ability to choose within the limits of his nature. He can't, however, choose contrary to his nature. So fallen man can choose; he is just incapable of making the right choice. And furthermore, he doesn't WANT ot make the right choice.
But God chose some, before the beginning of time, for salvation. In those, the Holy Spirit works, making them capable of making the right choice.
And why did God want to create men who COULDN’T choose him?
Why did He only want so many of his children to be saved?
