Un-hunh.

“...but how on earth can history get past people like me?”

Trust me, it doesn’t get past people like me nor do we forget.

Just watch how you parse sentences to fit an agenda and maybe then we can come to a truce.

Jimbo's hip, friendly, and fun to be with

Could the missing ingredient be suffering?

Funny - I didn't think you & I were at war. Who declared war first, and when?

Genesis 21:6 tells us that laughter is an appropriate response to God's blessings, Job 8:21 promises laughter for those afflicted by Satan, and Psalm 126:2 says laughter is a sign to unbelieving nations that God has done great things for us. Maybe it's the other recipe that's lacking something. Maybe it's lacking joy.

What, a suffering servant? Blasphemy!

No worries. It's clear your smarter than billions of people with over 2000 years experience.

Yeah. Just exactly how I picture Jeremiah; or David; or St. Joseph, or St. Paul. Or Jesus.

Oh, heavens. This is a global discussion encompassing Protestants and Catholics.

As far as personal actions, well, you understand the ellipses reference.

I’m not at war at all. I have nothing but peace and love in my heart for everyone.

~Even the most blatantly offensive.

I see. It's my personal use of ellipses that is singularly responsible for provoking war, and impeding this global "discussion" between Protestants and Catholics.

Oh stop it! [blushes] You're making my head swell.

I think the idea of redemptive suffering would be another major difference between the theology of Protestants and Catholics.

Jobs friends...yeah, my fellow travellers, when I was a "born again," fit pretty much into that category.

Look at any thread here on the Religion forum. Even easier, look at this thread. Catholics and Protestants are not at war?

You can’t reconcile with people who waste no opportunity to skewer the Church and in fact spend a great portion of their days trying to find things to accomplish that. The mere fact of their deep-seeded hatred of the Church, that was established by Jesus Christ, points to a very sick heart and faulty intellect.

Do you have any mirrors in your house?

As we've seen over and over on these threads, the primary difference between Protestants and Catholics is that Protestants believe Scripture is the inspired word of God and the Holy Spirit is God's means of instructing men through His word.

OTOH, the RCC teaches that a changing body of men (the pope and the magisterium) is God's appointed instrument of instruction, thus putting "other mediators" and "another Christ" between God and men.

Which is condemned by God's word.

The article is correct in one distinction, however. The RCC is materially-minded, while Protestants are spiritually-minded.

The RCC believes physical matter can actually become holy (which is a type of wizardly alchemy) while Protestants know that only God is holy, and all whom God inhabits, by His grace alone.

And I doubt the husband of this priest's neice calls himself "Jimbo." It's usually a pejorative meant to demean and belittle.

“...Protestants and Catholics is that Protestants believe Scripture is the inspired word of God and the Holy Spirit is God’s means of instructing men through His word.”

Let me fix that for you:

Catholics believe Scripture is the inspired word of God and the Holy Spirit is God’s means of instructing men through His word.”

There. Fixed it.

The biggest problem is that some refuse to respect others.

“The RCC believes physical matter can actually become holy (which is a type of wizardly alchemy)...”

Christ’s own words are not alchemy, thank you.

Because you do not believe, doesn’t give you license to trash the beliefs of others.

I certainly won’t bother with you even though you are missing so much in your belief “system.”

Do you?

Sure, and they show me warts and all.

They never show me as describing Catholics thusly:

"You can’t reconcile with..."

"...people who waste no opportunity to skewer the Church and in fact spend a great portion of their days trying to find things to accomplish that."

"The mere fact of their deep-seeded hatred of the Church, that was established by Jesus Christ, points to a very sick heart and faulty intellect."

Of course I don't recall you showing such vitriolic hatred either.

Do you agree with the content of that message?

Well, you are bothering with him and you are trashing his belief "system".
