***He actually believed in the Eucharist.***

Calvin clearly didn’t believe in the Hocus Pocus Catholic teaching of the elements, if that’s what you are getting at.

So Calvin mocked our Lord Jesus Christ as a liar as well?

Anger? Me?

Hey Quix, in your PROFESSIONAL opinion do I have an anger problem?

I did not claim you had “an anger problem.”

I’m not getting at anything. You deny Christ’s request, not mine.

Let me guess: strut into Church smug in the delusion that I am "elect."

thanks for that. It serves as additional proof that Catholics just don't get it.

It's more like slither into to church and be "Have mercy on me, a sinner."

A bit different than the Romanesque: I'll do my part [translation: my own works] and Jesus does his and everything is just honky dory!

Calvin was a sinner. just like you. Just like me.

Calvin was a lot of things. But he wasn’t an idolater.

Ah!

So now you understand what it is like when someone props up a hysterically broad straw version of your faith and then shoots it down.

I think you’ve learned something today. I hope so.

Perhaps only when I harass you relentlessly . . . but it’s been a long time since I recall doing that and you’ve almost been so sweet recently as to make me look in my mirror and see if I’m still me.

LOL.

I don't, by the grace of God, make the error of believing "another Christ" can morph bread and wine into the blood and body of Jesus in some sort of wizardly alchemy.

You make Jesus Christ a liar, mocking him.

Wow. The Eucharist is what happens when you take Jesus out of a Jewish context.

If, however, by faith you mean a profession of faith not accompanied by good works

I'm curious what good works the thief on the cross did before Jesus told him he would be in Paradise that day.

Let's see here.

You said "So much anger!"

Maybe you can quantify just how much anger you think that I have, just for the sake of clarification.

And at what point does this alleged anger become a problem?

And just for grins and giggles, why do you think it is germane to this discussion for you to decide that I have so much anger?

Am I perhaps hittingjust a wee bit to close to home and you feel the need to change the direction of the thread by getting personal?

Just curious....

Why is it that our Protestant brothers want to claim sola scriptura, until they see passages that they do not agree with.

Could it be stated more clearly than this by Christ?...

...John 6:53-58, 66-67 (Read the Word of Jesus Christ)
“So Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me and I in him”

So you deny you are saved by faith and works?

Or is that a strawman?

After so many of these discussions, I just don't get what looks to be a resolute stubborness on the part of RCs in maintaining it is okay to kneel to and venerate and adore and very nearly worship a cement statue of a dead person when Jesus Christ is supposedly within them and guiding them and teaching them and leading them in all righteousness to God alone.

The RCC puts so many distractions between Christ and His sheep that one would think its playing for the opposing team.

"For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." -- 1 Corinthians 1:17-18

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

I think thefrankbaum gave a reasonable definition of apostolic succession,

There is no evidence that this is exclusive to a specific set of Christians. It wasn't just a few who received the gifts of the Holy Spirit as evidenced in Acts 2:4, Acts 10:47, and 1 Cor. 16:9 and especially in 1 Cor. 14:26. Passing on of the Holy Spirit is through laying on the hands as in Acts 8:17 and Acts 19:6. So if laying on the hands and receiving the Holy Spirit is evidence of authority, then all Christians have this authority.
