It happens with some sites: wishing to discourage the hits on an individual image not accompanied by a hit on the entire page, they deny access after a while. Since I post at least a picture a day, I am aware of the phenomenon. It is not that it has been “pulled”. The owner of the site considers it a misuse of his server. There is nothing you could have done differently, other than find another, friendlier, server to display it from.
One otherwise useful site to stay away from is something called Olga’s gallery; it is a good collection of art but if you post the jpg files from it, they will go away after a few sucessful serves. The only explanation I have for this is that there is a script that runs periodically and marks the requestor IPs as to be denied the next time around.
Others, e.g. Tripod, do not allow even a single serve, and replace the image with an ad for themselves.

We had 13 baptisms (one was an entire family!)
And 20 people confirmed into full Communion with the Church.
Not bad for a church with only 1000 families approximately.
WOW! How awesome! We only had two, but it’s a really small town.
