Martin Luther: Hitler's Spiritual Ancestor
Catholic Apologetics ^ | Peter F. Wiener

Posted on 03/15/2008 10:17:55 AM PDT by big'ol_freeper

More than once during these talks I referred to Luther and what always occurred to me as his destructive influence. I pointed out that even in such an admirable book as Rohan Butler's “The Roots of National Socialism” the spiritual origins of Nazism and Luther's influence had not been given the necessary importance. Then I was asked if I would be prepared to elaborate to them—about a dozen of the very senior boys, that is—my own views on Luther and Lutheranism. I agreed—with the proviso that they would be my own views and nothing else. Admittedly, I had read more on Luther and about Luther than on most other subjects. But I wanted to make it quite clear that I would not speak to them with the voice of a great authority, but would merely give them my own interpretation. I told them, moreover, that I should try to prove how dangerous it is to accept legends; and that the picture I had of Luther and his influence was thoroughly contradictory of the customary Luther of the legend.

Well, like I said, I don’t have that power. But I hope he is, I would hate to see anyone condemned to Hell. Such an awful place. BTW, MR. or Mrs. Holier then thou, I am married to a Lutheran and he loves me very much and I love him!

Oh yes, the land of 26,000 interpretations and denominations...with 26,000 answers lol.

“The flip side to that coin is the centralized hierarchy where flawed theology can become doctrine with one bad leader.”

Christ protects His Church, through all the failings of human frailty. Now, do I believe Christ would fragment His Church into 26,000 interpretations and opinions? No, I do not. His Church stands with one voice for all time. That is one centralized hierarchy I will submit to.

That statement shows quite a lack of faith in the promises of Jesus Christ when he established the Church...

I'm well aware of what he said and am a member of the body of Christ.

On the defensive, I see.

And Luther lived 400 years before Hitler and Hitler’s socialism, didn’t he.

So, who is more culpable?

A man who faithfully took vows as a youth 400 years ago to follow Christ as a priest, or a man who faithfully joined Hitler’s Youth Movement at the time it was happening?

I would prefer to argue the case of the man who never heard the name Hitler and never knew of his anti-Christian hatred of Christ’s own kin.

The difference is our founder was a Jew. Protestantism was founded by Luther.

Good find. And William Shakespeare was a Catholic suffering persecution in jolly old England, so he would have a pretty good perspective on it.

The Catholic Church helped Nazis escape to Argentina. One can find the information.

One of the most brutal killers of World War II, Ante Pavelic, hid in Via Giacoma Venezian No. 17-c, 2nd floor. He hid there under a false ID. while he was waiting for some fixed papers to excape to Argentina. He used a Vatican car SCV number plate when he was out and about from time to time.

Lieutenant Colonel Father Cecelja, look it up.

Father Draganovic worked closely with Bishop Ivan Bucko smuggling Nazis out of Europe after the war. Both knew Pope Pius very well. All knew about San Girolamo.

Even the CIA knew about the Rat Line.

Ask yourself if your church's teachings are consistent with The Gospel. If not somewhere along the line error creeped into your hierarchy.

Who's more culpable?

Luther, the man who wrote this:

Set fire to their synagogues and schools; and what will not burn, heap earth over it so that no man may see a stone or relic of them forever.

Pull down and destroy their houses since they perpetrate the same nefarious things in them as in their schools. Pack them all under one roof or stable, like the gypsies, that they may know that they are not lords and masters in our land as they boast.

Deprive them of all their prayer-books.

Forbid their rabbis henceforth to teach.

Deprive them of the right to move about the country.

Forbid them the business of usury, and take from them all their belongings.

Hand the strong young Jews of both sexes flail, axe, mattock, spade, distaff, and spindle; and make them work for their bread in the sweat of their brow, like all the children of Adam. Confiscate their property and drive them out of the country. (W53, 525 abridged).

Putting aside your question for a minute. How do you know that the Gospels you have are the divinely inspired Gospels?

Luther.

Luther was an adult and acted in complete freedom.

Benedict XVI was a boy who was COMPELLED BY LAW TO JOIN THE HITLER YOUTH. It was the law and he was 14 years old at the time.

Yes, Luther was more culpable.

As I said earlier, Luther on the Jews sounds like an operations order for Krystalnacht.
