Spanish-speakers are fueling growth in the local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which recently opened new worship space on Tucson's predominantly Hispanic South Side.
Many local Mormon worshippers, like 47-year-old Juan Arroyo, converted to the faith from Catholicism while living in their native countries. Arroyo, a roofer who has four children, joined the church when he lived in Guadalajara, Mexico. He's been in the United States for seven years.
"I was missing something, and my life changed greatly after meeting the missionaries," he said in Spanish.
Nationally, the number of Spanish-speaking congregations in the Mormon church grew by 64 percent between 2000 and 2006. There are 639 such congregations in the United States.

The church is growing quickly in Mexico.
Church officials say its presence there began in 1875 when Brigham Young, then denomination president, called on six missionaries from Salt Lake City to bring Spanish-language materials about the church to Mexico. In 1885, a group of nearly 400 colonists from Utah arrived at northern Mexico's Casas Grandes River. Mexico's first stake was created in Colonia Juárez in 1895. By 1912, more than 4,000 members had settled in Chihuahua and Sonora.
More than 1 million members now live in Mexico, a predominantly Catholic country with a population of about 108 million.

What strawman, simple observation, but then the bom stands on mighty shakey ground to begin with.
I wouldn't give smith even that much credit, there is absolutely no evidence that he was ever visited at all.
Please note that personal pronouns are not banned. However, several posters have found it helpful to avoid pronouns altogether to not “make it personal.” Remember that when the word “you” is used it is often taken personally instead of universally. The opponent will rarely give you the benefit of the doubt.
Religion Forum posters have a bad habit of putting words in the other poster’s mouth - both directly and indirectly. To avoid flame wars and/or having your threads locked, try quoting the other poster directly instead of paraphrasing him. Or frame it as question, e.g. “Are you saying blah, blah.”

I think what the RM said is helpful!
Stop putting words in another person mouth as it has happen to us endlessly.
I really think this will help in the long run!
Some have stoop to being unkind and thoughtless and mean and taking things to the extreme to suit their agenda knowing that they have crossed over the line, but they don’t care.
I have to remind myself if they need to do that, than there is something void in their life that they feel the need to strike out at others.
It they are not happy, no one else should have happiness in their lives either!
An anti-document, LOL.
It’s getting hilarious isn’t it????? :)
It would be except for the level of mental lock-out shown when confronted with facts.
# 666 for you
And this means ?????????
:)
Yes, so true. The zombie like regurgitation of Mormon apologists and refusal to look at the actual facts is something to behold. When you consider the source of this hypnotism, it becomes frightening the hold the devil has on people.
No one needs to slant anything to discredit the LDS. Your own leaders and documents do a fine job all on their own!
That is your problem CG, every church has their different and odd ways and I believe in let them practiced as their conscience dictates.
Who am I too stick my nose in their meetings and tell them they need to follow my way and if they don’t I will speak ill of them...
some here think it is their right to scorn others into submission to their beleif or else!
I know the differents from the provocateurs here and what the Church really said in context
I wish YOU would make up YOUR mind.
YOU bigot!
Why do you hate us so??

17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the otherThis is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!
18 My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong)and which I should join.
19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.
20 He again forbade me to join with any of them; and many other things did he say unto me, which I cannot write at this time. When I came to myself again, I found myself lying on my back, looking up into heaven. When the light had departed, I had no strength; but soon recovering in some degree, I went home. And as I leaned up to the fireplace, mother inquired what the matter was. I replied, Never mind, all is wellI am well enough off. I then said to my mother, I have learned for myself that Presbyterianism is not true.
Gozilla is a BEAST!!!
It looks like SOMEone didn’t get the MESSAGE!!

Are you prepared to DENOUNCE the LDS missionary activities? Publicly???
If not, your above statement is nothing but hypocrisy. Its the old "do as I say not as I do" approach. As long as the LDS seeks converts, going door to door proclaiming the LDS as the only true church and all others apostate you don't practice what you preach. If you truly believe everyone gets to practice 'as their conscience dictates' you would be opposed to any and all LDS missions.
No Resty, my problem is nothing more and nothing less than refusing to sit back and watch people go into eternal damnation and say nothing. If you don't believe what I say fine. My first amendment rights dictate that I may freely speak my conscience whether you like it or not, unless of course the 1st amendment only applies to Mormons???
