NEW YORK, N.Y. (Catholic League) - Yesterday, Senator John McCain said he was very honored by Pastor John Hagees endorsement.
The Republican presidential hopeful also called Hagee the staunchest leader of our Christian evangelical movement, citing the ministers pro-Israel stance.
Catholic League president Bill Donohue addressed this today:
There are plenty of staunch evangelical leaders who are pro-Israel, but are not anti-Catholic. John Hagee is not one of them. Indeed, for the past few decades, he has waged an unrelenting war against the Catholic Church.
For example, he likes calling it The Great Whore, an apostate church, the anti-Christ, and a false cult system. To hear the bigot in his own words, click here. http://youtube.com/watch?v=uViQ0hVV57Q
Note: he isnt talking about the Buddhists.
In Hagees latest book, Jerusalem Countdown, he calls Hitler a Catholic who murdered Jews while the Catholic Church did nothing. The sell-out of Catholicism to Hitler began not with the people but with the Vatican itself, he writes.
For the record, Hitler persecuted the Catholic Church and was automatically excommunicated in 1931two years before he assumed powerwhen he acted as best man at Joseph Goebbels Protestant wedding. Hitler even bragged about his separation from the Church.
As for doing nothing about the Holocaust, Sir Martin Gilbert reminds us that Goebbels denounced Pope Pius XII for his 1942 Christmas message criticizing the Nazis (the New York Times lauded the pope for doing so in an editorial for two years in a row).
Much to Hagees chagrin, Gilbert also says that Pius XII saved three quarters of the Jews in Rome, and that more Jews were saved proportionately in Catholic countries than Protestant countries. Indeed, Israeli diplomat Pinchas Lapide credited the Catholic Church with saving 860,000 Jews. No religion can match that.

Discuss the issues all you want, but do NOT make it personal.

>>To correct a sinner is a mandated act of charity.<<
You can correct them, but I’m sure God doesn’t want you to beat your head against a wall with it. Have you noticed? They are trampling your pearls.....and getting a really big kick out of doing it!
Silk purse, sow’s ear. See what I’m saying?
The Judeo-Christian ideal is the major aspect of what makes Western society. If we lose it at its core in the Holy Land, that much of our reasons for being having been so sacrificed, then what ideal should we replace it with so to project ourselves forward in the world?
>>So you feel sufficiently righteous to equate yourself with the creator of the universe ?<<

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!
Your post made me spew!
May Our Lord Bless you and give all of us insight on self-rightousness! I know I need it. Many of us do.
It is important to not let bitterness set in as we do this, as it is God Who sorts out all arguments. All we have to do is present the Catholic teaching clearly, and the rest will take care of itself.
I didn’t use profanity nor did I make it ‘personal’. Nor will I.
“I guess claiming victim hood is the new thing.”
Personal foul? Acceptable commentary? Over the top? Acceptable?
So are you saying that Christ came to tell us to do as He says but not as He does? Seems as though you are implying that He is a hypocrite.
I guess I do not subscribe to a notion of a Judeo-Christian ideal, whatever that may be. I do not think that if there is yet another diaspora that Christianity or Judaism will vanish from the face of the earth.
The problem is that the longer we go on handing them pearls so they can trample them, the better they feel about themselves.
If we state fact and let it lie, then God will take care of it. Feeding the Swine, keep them happy.
Look at this thread. It hasn’t changed hearts, only bashed Catholics. And those who continue to bait us are very happy about it.
LOL all you want. This seems to be the standard response I get from my fellow Freepers who make accusations and then cannot back them up. Somehow I'M supposed to do your legwork to prove your point. After all it's IN all the history books (NOT). This is a conservative forum not a liberal forum so please kindly back up your statements with ANY kind of proof that Hitler's henchmen and their families attended a Roman Catholic Church right up until the end.
Luke wrote in chapter 18 that Yah'shua taught:shalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiach Adonai9 Also, to some who were relying on their own righteousness
and looking down on everyone else, he told this parable:10 Two men went up to the Temple to pray,
one a Parush ( Pharisee ) and the other a tax-collector.
11 The Parush stood and prayed to himself,
O God! I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity
greedy, dishonest, immoral, or like this tax-collector!
12 I fast twice a week, I pay tithes on my entire income,
13 But the tax-collector, standing far off,
would not even raise his eyes toward heaven,
but beat his breast and said,
God! Have mercy on me, sinner that I am!
14 I tell you, this man went down to his home right with God
rather than the other.

I believe they thought Him a prophet and not the greatest prophet either. I do not see how they could consider Him the Messiah but not the Son of God.
I fail to see how this could apply to me or my posts while not simultaneously applying to you and yours.
Pax Christi
Better yet, correct the claims that the CHURCH failed to condemn the Nazi party and the evil it did. That really is the issue here, the false claim that the Catholic Church was silent or supportive of the Nazi butchers.
“I believe they thought Him a prophet and not the greatest prophet either.”
Mohammed, to them, is the greatest of the prophets, but Jesus, to them, is Messiah, and by many Muslims is thought will be the Judge at the end of the world.
“I do not see how they could consider Him the Messiah but not the Son of God.”
Devout Jews who still expect the Messiah do not believe that he will be divine.
Islam, in large part, traces back to the Arian heresy. At its beginning, Islam was a Catholic heresy, a syncretistic effort to marry a non-orthodox form of Christianity with a radical trinity-rejecting monotheism, with maybe some pagan influences.
Frankly, the part that I always find difficult is not the non-divine Messiah part, but the non-divine fellow being the Word of God, conceived by the power of God's Spirit, born of a virgin.
But there it is.
