ROMAN CATHOLICISM: A DIFFERENT GOSPEL
In their lust for unity the Emergent Church and post-evangelical Protestants are right now embracing the Roman Catholic Church as another Christian denomination. But the issue is simple: If, as taught the Church of Rome, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without the new birth in baptism then we are now in hopeless contradiction with the Gospel contained in Holy Scripture.
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:8)
Speaking The Truth In Love
Let me make this as clear as I possibly can for the Roman Catholics who may read this work in Christ from Apprising Ministries. I personally am former member of the Church of Rome and care very deeply about those, such as the majority of my own family line, who are trapped in this apostate man-made system of religion known as Roman Catholicism. I also fully realize that what I say may sound unloving and possibly even harsh. However, there is just nothing that I can do about that. By not telling the Truth we arent doing anyone a service.

The mercs were often not much of anything. Many switched sides and clergy depending on who was paying the most.
Thank you very much for your effort.
I agree that we should expose false teaching in light of the Truth. In that light, I refer to the Holy Scriptures written by the apostles and their companions, as well as the oral teachings of the apostles, passed down through Christ's Holy Church.
May you continue in meekness to discover the truth of Jesus Christ. You will always be welcome in the Church He established.
I hadn't heard that one. I'm amused.
Most excellent summary, my dear sister. We are instructed to avoid useless arguments and you rightly draw a line we should observe.
Indeed - to God be all blessing and honor and glory and power and dominion for ever and ever, Amen and Amen.
Very fine explanation of this important distinction. Lack of understanding this leads many astray from the pure milk of the grace of God.
I will accept this as your own words, as I didn't make that statement in my previous post. And so your point is.........
Reverse is equally true. I think your salvation is in question...
So, you are not being denied YOUR (or my) religious freedom eh? Words are just words - you choose how to act upon them. So instead of proving that sharing one's beliefs and challenging those of another is anti-Freedom of religion, you've gone ahead and proved my point, this is freedom OF religion. :)
“I hope that those who disagree understand I am not arguing against Baptism or the Lord’s Supper. I am saying they do not confer the Grace of God. They do not trigger the Holy Spirit indwelling a believer and they are not absolute requirements to be saved.”
Respectfully, I will have to agree to disagree.
Romans 6:1-4 seems to point out this well:
1What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
This short but powerful set of four verses so well points out the grace of baptism! If baptism does not confer the Grace of God then I don’t know what does. After all, isn’t dying with Christ only to be raised with Him again what we are all hoping for in the end?
Blessings to all in Christ.
“Babies are innocent. They have no knowledge of sin or right and wrong. Of course your baby is in heaven. Would our God send an infant to hell or limbo because theyre not baptized? Of course not, Claud.”
Respectfully:
“Babies are innocent. They have no knowledge of sin or right and wrong.”
Surely you are not forgetting this:
Psalm 51:5: Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
We are born with sinful hearts, our nature is oppossed to God from the time we are conceived (Read any of Paul’s epistles).
And then think about this in conjunction:
Acts 22:16: And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’
God washes away our sin in Holy Baptism, we are rendered dead to the world joining Christ in His death to be sealed by the Holy Spirit as God’s own to be raised with Christ.
“Of course your baby is in heaven. Would our God send an infant to hell or limbo because theyre not baptized? Of course not, Claud.”
While I pray that this is true we never will know for sure. Unborn children are in God’s hands and I know that our God is merciful God but His will be done.
Blessings.
You got that right. If Jesus had not have started His Church and made Peter the first Pope of the Catholic Church, this guy wouldn't even have a religion. Isn't it convenient how people like to overlook that little tidbit?
Setting aside any opinion on the writer’s theology, he is badly in need of the services of both a decent historian and a decent editor.
Thank you for your concern, and I mean that sincerely.
Unfortunately, you are wrong about the Catholic Church.
I will pray for you, and I hope you will return the favor. I am confident that, with the intercession of Our Lady and of Saint Anthony the patron of lost souls, of those who have abandoned the Church you will find the fullness of Truth that lies in the Church founded by Our Lord upon the Rock of Saint Peter: the one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church.
***LUTHER BAD!

Now you’re getting it. I didn’t know that you were in the process of being enlightened.
Hmm. Well, I have a completely different perspective. But as I’ve seen you nail pretty much every denomination to the wall so I guess my time was coming. I’m ok with that because the Gospel is our focus and if you or others don’t like that it’s not my business.
In terms of membership I believe overall we’ve increased slightly in the last 10 years, not leaps and bounds, but increased. Of course itchy ears tend to go where they are not reminded of their sinful nature and need for a Savior like we hear in our parishes across the world, so maybe that’s a big reason why we don’t become a “mega-church”. Truth be told I’m 100% ok with that.
Blessings to you in Christ!

At least!
***We are either numbered among His family from before the foundation of the world, or we’re not. That’s just how life is.***
I have found that sanctimonious prose like this is often found emitting from those who were on the student council in high school and never amounted to squat in the real world.
Elitism without merit and reward without deserving.
It’s a shame that you have to follow the creeds of foreign governments in order to feed your ego.
To the degree that WELS preaches plain Scripture, I liked it.
It was what they inferred and read into Scripture and how they wholesale arrogantly and abusively, irrationally, irresponsibly treated a number of missionary families that infuriated me.
Congrats on the growth. I’m a bit surprised.
***All religions have some heresy in them***
No they don’t. Most of them do; the one that Jesus left for us doesn’t.
***No one is regenerated at baptism. That’s an RCC error. Instead, Baptism is a sign and seal that this child of God, at a time of God’s choosing, will be regenerated by the Holy Spirit within him, will repent of his sins and believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, as God promised. ***
The seal is a mark, not a plastic baggie. And all those who are baptized and believe shall be saved.
No just the frogmarched.
