FLDS Parents Could Face Charges for Abandoning their "Lost Boys"
KCPW News ^ | February 14, 2008

Posted on 02/22/2008 9:11:12 AM PST by Zakeet

They're called the "Lost Boys," the teenagers kicked out of their homes and communities by leaders of the polygamist Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to ensure there's an ample supply of single, young women who will one day become plural wives. Representative Lorie Fowlke (R-Orem), is running a bill to make this abandonment a felony.

"Estimates are that we've had more than 1,000 children - primarily in southern Utah - thrown out of their homes," Fowlke says. "What we were trying to do with this bill is criminalize this behavior and send a message to this community that they can't just throw away their children."

H.B. 23 adds child abandonment to the definition of child abuse, and makes it a felony crime. It also adds an enhancement if a parent or organization benefits from the child's abandonment to further an illegal enterprise, such as polygamy. This is the case with the FLDS church, says Roger Hoole, a lawyer who represents some of the displaced young men and sits on the board for the Utah Association for Justice. He says the church benefits from kicking out young men who would compete for plural wives. This, he says, has devastating consequences.

"There's a huge impact that's coming, like a tsunami, that's going to hit the state of Utah, when these boys get a little older and realize what has happened to them and get angry," Hoole says. "There's a real problem here."

Fowlke's bill gained unanimous support in a Senate committee this morning, and now heads to the full Senate for consideration.

What I can't figger out is that JS said that GOD told him the KJV was lacking in certain areas: great and precious truths have been removed by evil men IIRC.

So, with GOD's help, he RETRANSLATED (wrong word, but who knows what linguists would call it) the KJV into the JST.

So why, in GOD's name, do the LDS Organization® members continue to use the KJV when they have a Living Prophet® supplied GOOD bible to read from?

6 ¶ Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
In other words don’t share what is of great importance with those who are faultfind, contenious or want to do harm etc

But resty, these have been questions that Jesus would have answered - what is the way of salvation? And even the Gentile mother was praised by Jesus for her faith. So are you saying that Jesus would deny telling others about something as important as salvation?

To be able to answer your questions, I need to know your understanding of “salvation”.

Nic posted Scripture. What is 'not the truth' about Scripture? It's inspired by God. It is the truth. Wishing or hoping it is not the truth, does not in any way make it an untruth. Sorry, mom - but nicmarlo is right.

Paul said it a little differently, but the message is the same.

No; it isn't.

Your AoF is talking about men; the writer of Hebrews was talking about Christ.

Scripture is inspired...

Individual persons interpretations of Scripture is not...

Unless this molder of young minds, at BYU, is speaking as a prophet...then his words are scripture.

But ONLY if a quorum of 12 SUB-Professors agree unanimously with him; THEN it is Scripture.

maybe...

after a length of time goes by...

if they want to...

The Joseph Smith cut and paste and adding to scripture was “inspired” too......but not by God.

As a self proclaimed, saved and born again, follower of Christ, you must know how your reply reflects on Jesus.

Oh yeah...

HE can make JESUS look bad!

To be able to answer your questions, I need to know your understanding of “salvation”.

I am purposefully not imposing my understanding of salvation on the Mormon definition and/or whatever your definition is...Is your definition a Mormon one?...that is what I have been asking for and have yet to receive.

If your definition is not a Mormon one, then please do not give it to me...I have only been asking for a Mormon definition and how I, as a non-Mormon, can obtain this salvation.

but the plain reading of Scripture and interpretting it are two completely different things...

Often people make claims of interpretation (usually when they don't like what It says) when it is just the plain, simple reading of what the Scripture states.
