Today the Magi come to Bethlehem
With them, Lord, we come to render homage to you.
Lord, in your mercy...hear our prayer.
Today the star leads them to the manger.
With them, Lord, we wish to let ourselves be led by your light.
Lord, in your mercy...hear our prayer.
Today they see the little child and bless His Mother.
With them, Lord, we wish to discover you in the midst
of our sisters and brothers,
Lord, in your mercy...hear our prayer.
Today they prostrate themselves before you and adore you.
With them, Lord, we wish to adore your holy will for us.
Lord, in your mercy...hear our prayer.
Today they offer their gifts.
With them, Lord, we wish to offer our own lives as a gift.
Lord, in your mercy...hear our prayer.
Lord Jesus,
King of kings and Lord of lords,
Infant born of the Virgin Mary,
Your star led the Magi to the manger
and they paid homage to you in your Mothers arms.
We pray to you:
Light each one of our stars—
our reason for hope and for love—
so that it rises to the heavens of our hearts
and leads us to you.
Together with the Magi we can then offer you
the gold of our praise,
the incense of our prayer,
and the myhrr of our sacrifice.
Thanks, lightman.
Our priest tonight said that we offer homage every time we say the Our Father. And he illustrated it by bowing down with the words, “Our Father, who are in heaven, hallowed by thy name.” His arms and his body came down in a low bow as as he said the words in his homily.
Hadn’t really thought about it, but so true.
