In the Apprising Ministries article Joel Osteen: Apprising His Word Faith Teachings I have clearly showed those who are looking for the truth that Osteen teaches the exact same positive confession Word Faith theology and prosperity gospel as did his late father John, Kenneth Dad Hagin (1917-2003), and which is also currently being preached by Hagins dutiful disciple Kenneth Copeland and Oneness Pentecostal T.D. Jakes for that matter.
The unique twist that Joel Osteen has added to the mix is the syrupy sweet self-help shtick of Robert Schuller cleverly mixed together for his most popular brand of Cotton-Candy Christianity. I am not judging his motivations, or his heart, so I can only say that Osteens found the way to preach that his god wants you to have: Heaven while you're on earth, and then when you die, you get...ahwell, even more Heaven.
Sadly another sign of the growing spiritual blindness and apostasy in the American Christian Church right now that someone like Joel Osteen is steadily gaining much acceptance even among mainstream evangelicalism. And this comes despite a theology completely consistent with other mainstays on the Trinity Broadcasting Network such as Benny Hinn, Rod Parsley and pastor Paula White.
But the news gets even worse for Joel Osteen because running on a parallel track the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormon Church) is also beginning to make inroads toward being considered a legitimate form of Christianity. As case in point we offer Mormons and Evangelicals Ready to Worship Together? But what does this even have to do with Joel Osteen? Well, Im so glad you asked.
Osteen heads up arguably the largest evangelical church in the country. So here he was on Fox News Sunday a couple of weeks ago saying that in his mind Mormons are genuine Christians as I originally pointed out in Joel Osteen: Mitt Romney And Mormons Are Christians. But the saddest news of all may be that now Joel Osteen has pronounced blessing on the non-Christian cult of the Mormon Church as being Christian; and there is no outrage, and no evangelical leaders publicly calling Osteen to account.
No instead, its just business as usual in the apostatizing American Christian Church saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace (Jeremiah 6:14, KJV).

Colorcountry seems to think he can convert us to his way of thinking while using words that piss us off, even though he has heard from us that they creat anger and a desire to not listen.
To my way of thinking he loves his words more the he loves the idea of converting us.
What do you think?
No, I’m calling him a huckster. I don’t know much about you, so I wouldn’t presume to call you names. (But the little I’m aware of is good, FWIW.)

I will not go calmly like Stephen did, even though cc will not hear and learn.
It was my understanding that colorcountry is a “she”.
Yes?
Yes.

A friend of mine liked to get people so upset they would run to their bibles to prove us wrong.
He had people who hadn’t cracked a bible in 20 years reading, and learning it again.
ok...for a second I thought I might have confused you with another poster.
Osteen makes my skin crawl.
“He had people who hadnt cracked a bible in 20 years reading, and learning it again.”
And that is a good thing.
If healthy debate can cause people to read it for themselves there is nothing wrong with that.
I love you. But what is more important is God loves you.
He has come to set you free of your bondage. The entire gospel is summed up in: Love God, Love others.
My love is not perfect, but His is.
We don’t have the right to touch one of God’s anointed. I try and be very careful about that since He isn’t happy when we do. If we want to ‘judge’ someone, we need to speak to them face to face and not continually do it behind their backs. If you don’t like what he does, write to him. Call him. e-mail him.
Jesus faced them. WE just talk about them behind their backs.
Christ might have something to say about that..."If you love Me, you will keep My commandments"
At what point is a person "God's anointed" versus a false teacher? The church is filled with many who fall into apostasy. We ARE instructed by the apostles to judge those who claim to be INSIDE the church and to shun those who willingly hold false ideas contrary. We cannot judge those outside the church because they are not enlightened.
Rick Warren has been approached many times about his teachings, yet he believes his is the right gospel. So does Gene Robinson. None of this is behind their backs. What good will it do me to e-mail them when they don't respond to criticism from far more illustrious teachers and preachers?
I remember quite a few years back when John MacArthur started teaching Lordship Salvation, where someone can believe in Christ but live a carnal life. He was, rightfully rebuked by a number of prominent clergy and he recanted. The problem this creates when a prominent pastor like MacArthur strays into error is that it reverberates throughout Christendom. You can type in Lordship Salvation and find this false doctrine still circulating on the Internet, even under John MacArthur's title even though he rejected it long ago.
Augustine also had a similar problem. When he understood God's grace and the error of his doctrine, he immediately recalled his life's writings. Things still float around out there.
We all slip into error from time to time. We are commanded to study the scriptures to see if what we believe is true. When we find we are in error, we are suppose to humble ourselves, confess that we are wrong and move on. God understand and that is the way this system was designed. It helps teach us humility.
A person can support Rick Warren or those who state that Rick Warren is not teaching according to the gospel, but they can't do both. Rick Warren's message has strayed from the true gospel. In the end a person can only look after their own salvation and warn others when they think someone is teaching falsely.
Mat 22:16 And they *sent their disciples to Him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that You are truthful and teach the way of God in truth, and defer to no one; for You are not partial to any.
You are correct, this is what Christ tells us in the Bible. To be a commandment keeper brings you naught. To love Him, brings you into commandment keeping.
I think you know that Mormons keep commandments (or lie about it) in order to obtain a Temple Recommend, so that they can partake of oaths and covenants, and receive "endowments" in order to "earn" themselves a higher kingdom, an eternal family, and worlds of their own creation. What is it that they love? Who's glory are they interested in?
Nuff said.
But they'd toss Him out, saying, "Who are YOU?"
For STARTERS!
Galatians 1:7-10
7. Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. 2 Corinthians 11:14-15
14. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.
If one believes the Bible is correct, then, by that Standard, Mormonism fails the test.
If, however, you are convinced that the Bible is either in error, been corrupted or mis-interpreted, then you are free to believe whatever you wish.
