NORFOLK, Va. Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson predicted Wednesday that 2008 will be a year of violence worldwide and a recession in the United States, followed by a major stock-market crash by 2010.
Sharing what he believes God has told him about the year ahead is an annual tradition for Robertson.
On Wednesday's "700 Club" broadcast, the founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network predicted that evangelism will increase and more people will seek God as the chaos develops. Robertson said, "We will see the presence of angels and we will see an intensification of miracles around the world."
Last year, Robertson predicted that a terrorist act, possibly involving a nuclear weapon, would result in mass killing in the United States. Noting that it hadn't come to pass, Robertson said, "All I can think is that somehow the people of God prayed and God in his mercy spared us."

Pat should start with smaller predictions to build his credibility, like:
I predict John Smith at 112 Maple St., in Detroit, Michigan, on a partly cloudy morning with a chance of showers in the afternoon, will eat two bowls of Wheaties for breakfast on June 23, 2008, followed by an adequate bowel movement, while chickadees chatter on his maple tree, and the Yankees lose their third game in a row.
If he gets that right, give me the winner of the third race at Arlington and I’ll seriously listen.
True, but not applicable to this case (unless you want to suggest that al-Qaeda was moved by Pat's words and called off their nuclear-attack plan).
Are you implying that Pat Robertson and his ministries have been a “stumbling block to salvation”?
The Scriptures say Isaiah prophesied to King Hezekiah to get his house in order because he was going to die. HE DID NOT DIE AT THAT TIME. The prophecy "FAILED TO COME TO PASS".
He never made a prediction like that, though I’ll take my words back if you find evidence of an actual quote to that effect. I remember the 88 election quite a bit. What I found so interesting about that is that Robertson actually won the Michigan state primary, but after about 1/2 a day’s mention, it was buried by the msm.
Pagans believe in fortune-telling, Pat.
There’re Jesus’ all around me and none of them say anything about this. Come to think about it, none of them speak English.
He could be sincerely mistaken.
How about...”When the Chicago Cubs are leading 10 to 5 with 2 outs and 2 stikes in the ninth inning and are about to win their first World series in a hundred years, Christ will return triumphantly putting an end to the game as well as all evil off the face of the Earth.”
Yu can bet there will be disgruntled Chicago fans, even Christian ones who will sigh...”Couldn’t he have waited 5 minutes more!?”
I think you have a good point regarding the potential of being a stumbling block!
In other news, Free Republic poster Polybius predicts hurricanes in the Caribbean, snowstorms in Siberia, fires in California and the deaths of several world-famous artists and entertainers in 2008.
That Polybius is amazing!
I am still awaiting Pat’s prediction of Worldwide financial collapse... that he made in 1982! Even GOD laughs at Pat!

I quoted a verse.
I then stated my opinion.
...and you raged.
So...Mr/Ms. Knowitall...
...what say you give us a complete hermeteutical exegesis on Duet 18: 21,22, it’s (in your expert opinion) context in the surrounding verses and the Bible as a complete work. Tell us what it REAAAALLY means.
...After that please explain why my opinion is not worthy of posting and deserves your rude reply.
...Lastly, please cite your educational credentials to substatnite your alleged expert opinions.
Or..you can simply apologize for being an ass.
I don't think he's going to do that. He seems set in his ways.

I frankly don't care what he says, but it really isn't fair to raz him and then when he's right, not admit it. That's why most people only think of him as a nut job, because he never gets any credit when he's right. He is a multi millionaire because he IS smart about money. Most think he just bilks people out of their money, but he is an excellent investor. Predicting recession is not really sticking your neck out that far. We are teetering on recession right this moment. What would happen with $150 oil, or another US attack? We have no clue yet how many people are going to lose their homes. May be manageable, maybe not.
We have worldwide violence every year anyway. Predicting it will get worse is also not a stretch.
Just because I don't subscribe to his preaching doesn't make him a nutcase. People on FR don't like him or Fallwell, so they never miss a chance to make their diggs. As far as I'm concerned, there are presidential hopefulls running in Iowa today that are more of a nutjob than him. And I'm talking Republicans that are in the lead.
agreed.
Read through a number of his/her posts.
Leagalism and pride are the prevailing themes.

Ya, it could be that he’s just old and sick and he’s sincerely confused or mistaking the effects of a bad prune danish for the voice of God.
