40 Days for Life: 2008 Campaigns [Lent Registration this week]

Since the end of the fall 2007 campaign, the 40 Days for Life national leadership team has fervently prayed for discernment about what specific actions God desires next. We sincerely thank the many of you who have expressed your thoughts about what God may be asking of us in the year ahead.

We prayerful hearts, we will be going forward with two national, coordinated 40 Days for Life campaigns in 2008:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE LENT 2008 CAMPAIGN: The Registration starts DECEMBER 12, 2008 and ends DECEMBER 20, 2008.

[Additional information by FReeper TOPHER -- one has 8 days to register for LENT 2008 40 DAYS FOR LIFE CAMPAIGN and it is restricted to DECEMBER 12 to DECEMBER 20.

Basically, it gets down to a registration FEE and registering with 40 Days for Life.

If there is someone else interested in setting up the 40 Days for Life in your city/community, then there is only one registration fee -- which is about $200.

For example, if Hammond, Louisiana is the place you live, and you go to register, you might find that there is already someone involved in setting up 40 Days for Life. In that case, the 40 Days for Life organization would put you contact with that person/organization.

Since the 40 Days for Life campaign wishes to have a presence as much as possible at Planned Parenthood or a local abortion clinic, the more people involved, the better...

40 Days for Life

This past Fall I was privileged to pray with many of you in cities, towns, and villages across America during the 40 Days for Life Campaign. This Lent, and again in the Fall of 2008, the campaign will continue! I urge you get as many people as possible to pray at the abortion facilities during these periods of time. I look forward to leading many of these gatherings personally.

Moreover, Priests for Life will be activating our nation's clergy more than ever during the Lenten 40 Days for Life. We will call the clergy to a series of special activities and commitments that will coincide with the increased presence at the abortion facilities. I will need your help as well to encourage them.

We will be calling them to preach, to lead their people in prayer, to increase the abortion healing services available, to reach out to abortion clinic workers, to make their voices heard in the media, and much more. I will be posting special notices about all this, and will rely on you for some specific help to make it happen! Stay tuned!

Dear topher,
You know the incredible impact that 40 Days for Life had throughout America this fall...
...And thanks to your feedback and input, 2008 has the potential to be much bigger and have even greater impact!
Based on the survey responses of 744 people from across the country -- and more than 60 NEW cities that have already told us they want to do a 40 Days for Life campaign in 2008 -- two important conclusions became evident:
1.) Those who just led a 40 Days for Life campaign
overwhelmingly want to do it again, but want to wait
until next fall
2.) Those who have not yet conducted a 40 Days for Life
campaign overwhelmingly want to conduct a campaign,
and they want to do it this spring
Here's the bottom line -- there will be TWO nationally coordinated 40 Days for Life campaigns for 2008, and their dates will be:
* SPRING: February 6 - March 16
* FALL: September 24 - November 2
(NOTE: We strongly recommend that most communities only do one 40 Days for Life campaign in a year, or you will run the risk of burning your people out and diminishing the impact of this focused effort.)
Registrations for the Spring campaign will begin TOMORROW, Wednesday, December 12, at 9 PM Eastern (8 PM Central, 7 PM Mountain, 6 PM Pacific).
The Spring campaign registrations will close next Thursday, December 20. We will be unable to accept any more community registrations for the Spring campaign after the 20th to allow the needed preparation and training time for the registered cities.
Over the coming days, we'll answer a few of the most frequently asked questions about 40 Days for Life (out of the hundreds we've received) and help you to determine how this initiative can make a lifesaving impact in your community in the coming year.

An Email Update from the National Director today:

Planned Parenthood surprises 40 Days for Life

Well, at the time I'm writing this, there's just over three hours until registrations begin for the Spring 40 Days for Life campaign (that takes place from February 6 - March 16).
As you can imagine, things are really crazy here!
We've been scrambling to prepare everything for the launch of the next wave of nationwide 40 Days for Life campaigns...
...And Planned Parenthood has just given us an early Christmas gift!
Minutes ago I received an e-mail broadcast sent to abortion advocates across the country from Planned Parenthood's national president, Cecile Richards.
In the message, she characterizes 40 Days for Life campaigns as "unprecedented assaults on Planned Parenthood".
Richards states, "from the anti-choice hardliners who badgered local officials to try to shut down our new clinic in Aurora, to the '40 Days for Life' protesters who picketed clinics across the country this fall -- we are seeing an escalating level of threats to our clinics... So far, thanks to the actions of people like you, we've overcome these attacks. But to meet the challenge of the coming year, we will certainly need your help."
Wow -- the largest abortion chain in America is clearly feeling the pressure from your focused prayer and fasting. It must be time to turn up the heat even more!
(This was, after all, the FOURTH mass e-mail the organization has sent out about 40 Days for Life since September... And I don't believe it's any coincidence that her message was sent out on the same day when you have the opportunity to join the next wave of 40 Days for Life campaigns this coming Spring!)
Back to registrations...
I wrote a letter for you that explains everything you are going to get by joining the February 6 - March 16 campaign.
It took a lot longer to write this letter than I thought it would -- primarily because there's so much I needed to tell you about everything we're going to do to help your campaign succeed.
But I have to warn you... I ended up with a really long letter.
Please forgive the length. I know that many of you have studied the materials we gave you and already know that you want to register immediately... If that is your situation, then just skip down to the bottom, and click the big button to begin your registration process.
On the other hand, I know that some of you really want to know everything that's involved. If that's you, then I think we did a pretty good job of describing all the various components of the 40 Days for Life campaign.
If you fall into this latter category, there is one thing I want to stress... Registrations will be open for eight days -- until next Thursday, December 20 -- so don't feel too frenzied while reading the letter.
Take your time to go through the whole letter. In fact, it might be easier for you to print the whole thing out and read it on paper. Check out everything before you make your decision.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR REGISTERING:
Barring any last-minute technical difficulties, we plan to open the doors for registrations at exactly 9:00 PM Eastern time tonight.
I'll be sending you the direct link to the letter in just a few hours, but I knew I wouldn't have time to explain everything then, so that's why I sent you this advance "heads-up."
