See Who's Receiving Communion in San Francisco

A Catholic parish in San Francisco has been classified alongside graphic San Francisco sex-fest sponsor Miller Brewing after officials served Communion to members of the ultra anti-Catholic "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence," whose mockery of Christianity is legend in the city.

The service was captured on video by a member of the Catholic group St. Joseph's Men Society, and it has been made available Catholic blogsite Quamdiu Domine.

Two "sisters" at Holy Redeemer church in San Franscico

"I doubt that even Judas would have done such a perverse thing as this," said Anthony Gonzales, president of the men's organization. "Not only did [Archbishop George] Niederauer sell out our Lord for human respect but deliberately crucified Him again within the very sanctuary of the church that he was consecrated to protect. If Rome does not remove him immediately from his position and excommunicate him for this evil, then Rome itself becomes complicit in the crime. Enough is enough!"

The archbishop told LifeSiteNews he didn't notice anything unusual about the members of the congregation to whom he served Communion.

If anyone can stomach going to the San Francisco Bay Times website (the local “GLBTXYZ” newspaper) do a search for “Bingo” and your information will be verified by an article by “Sister Dana Van Iquity” laying out all the details of the fun.

In response to the article: “Please Lord, come quickly”

In response to driftdiver: If you spent half as much energy standing up for the faith against the evil in the world as you do against your fellow Christians maybe things would change. The Roman Catholic church was started by Christ and the Apostles. We read the Bible too. Our church wasn’t started by a man who felt it was his right to make theological decisions (i.e Luther, the thousands of fundementalist churches out there started by a mere man).

Layoff the zealotry. The self-righteousness. Humble yourself to the Lord. Work out your salvation with fear and trembling. DO NOT persecute fellow Christians because you think you have all the “right” answers.

Peace of Christ be with you always.

I’m not catholic and don’t buy into a lot of their misguided teachings
If you're not Catholic it doesn't matter what they teach. I'd be interested in your list of "misguided teachings."

Here’s some other links I found regarding the goings on at this ‘church’

http://www.qdomine.com/Morality_pages/MHR.htm

September 29, 2007: Most Holy Redeemer parish hosts “SF Desperate Divas 2008 Drag Grand Calendar Pageant” in Ellard Hall. “Twelve of the Bay Area’s Most Delicious Drag Divas will compete for the Crown and Title of Miss Desperate Dive 2008.” Event is published in the “Gay Event Listing” section of “SF Station” webpage, and other “alternative” media: (Video available at link)

http://www.sfbaytimes.com/index.php?sec=article&article_id=5496

The long awaited return of the Castro’s longest running Bingo – Revival Bingo —kicked off at Ellard Hall on Sept. 7 at 100 Diamond Street and 18th in the heart of the Castro. The new home includes more space, more seating capacity, a big stage, and a brand new sound & video system (thanks to Dave the bear) with all players on one main floor instead of having to hang from the rafters at the old venue. There are now three professional video screens replacing the old board with colored dry markers.

http://www.aegis.com/news/sfe/2006/SE061102.html this story tells how the church canceled the bingo events after receiving complaints.

http://www.thesisters.org/revivalbingo_refunds.html this story tells how they issues refunds for the canceled event.

http://www.traditioninaction.org/HotTopics/a02xAlert_MFR_Engel.html here’s another delightful story of the typical mass at this ‘church’

” Masses at MHR are highly innovative. The congregation holds hands for the Our Father and remains standing for the Consecration. The church has an excellent choir, but the highlight of the service is the kiss of peace with everyone mulling around the pews hugging and kissing everyone else. Same-sex partners openly embrace and kiss on the lips”

“While he was at supper on the night before He died for us, He took bread in his hands and gave you thanks and praise. He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said:

Take this, all of you, and eat it;
this is my body which will be given up for you.

When supper was ended, He took the cup. Again He praised you for your goodness, gave the cup to his disciples, and said:

Take this, all of you, and drink from it;
this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me. “

This is a quote from the Liturgy and it’s good enough for me. All I did was capitalize the H’s.

IMHO It is good to see people, even people with white painted faces and costumes, come into God’s house with [what appears to be] a quiet respect.

I love it when I hear guys like you criticize the Catholic Church for its doc tine, claiming to prefer the "Bible" as your sole source of authority.

Where do you think your Bible came from, buddy? I'll give you a hint -- The Catholic Church.

Second, who is the final arbiter on what scripture says? You? That's why there are now over 25,000 Christian denominations.

I've got news for you -- neither you nor I are the final arbiter of the scriptures. The Church is. And if you believe in the Bible, and Catholics do, then you should know that the Church is the pillar and bullwork of truth (1 Tim 3:15) In sum, the Catholic Church is bible-based, and we believe every divinely inspired word in scripture. But we also believe that the Church as the pillar and bullwork of Truth and that it is the final arbiter of scripture because God made it so and continues to do so through the Holy Spirit.

“yea, well genius, in the future, qualify your accusations with some documetation and links!”

It was in the article. Personally I don’t feel a need to comment on the content of the article that the thread is based on.

“I suggest you stick to what you know whaever that is, ‘cause you obviously don’t know squat about the Catholic Church and/or Catholicism.”

And behavior like this is what turns away people from God and salvation through Jesus.

I only said “I don’t buy into it”. I did not make an attack. He and you are the only ones that have done that. If you wanna argue as to the true faith we can do that. Your statement aren’t true however.

There you are judging again. Why do you have the arrogance to believe that Christ has appointed you to a position of power? Do you think your behavior doesn’t cause people to turn away?

Actually no it didn’t in entirity. Parts of it did and parts of it didn’t.

Who was it that refused to translate the Bible so the average person could read it? Who charged people money to forgive sins.

You folks are outrageous with your personal attacks. There is proof that pure and unadulterated perversion is taking place at a Catholic church. Perversion at mass and approved by this particular church and its staff. Are folks outraged at the perversion? No they attack me personally and ignore the reality of what is happening.

This parish obviously strives to serve it’s parishoners and it’s a difficult thing, seeing as we Catholics are big on reconciliation and redemption. It’s not for the priest to impose his own views on the sinfulness of those who come with head bowed for Communion. It really is up to us to examine our conscience and determine whether we are worthy to partake.

I do know one thing, however—I don’t personally know of any church where the lines for the Confessional are even 10% of those for Communion. So there’s a disconnect among a large majority of Catholics between the two Sacraments.

California with Mahoney in LA and these clowns up north is in desperate need of orthodox Catholic leadership. Hopefully our Pope will rectify this situation. This parish is an embarassment, but Jesus was criticized for hanging out with sinners. I hope the priests hearts are in the right place and that they are continually counseling their parishoners to follow the path of Christ.

You obviously are not Catholic, but as far as I know all Christians can understand the concept of reconciliation and redemption.

That said, there is no place for the “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” with their obvious contempt for all things sacred and there’s absolutely no justification of the type of bingo games and other activities that have been allowed to take place in that parish’s facilities.

hey, genius, you smear the entire Catholic Church & Catholicism and Catholics over one church in SF and a very small minority;
you can dance around the issue all you like but we Catholics know an anti-Catholic bigot when we see one.

I agree...but who are we to decide who is worthy and unworthy of Christ?

Ignore it and if it is meant to rile and get publicity...then lack of such results will kill it.

“Threads like this are ruined by people such as yourself. You contribute nothing.”

WOW I won’t be missed and I’m ruining thread simply because I stated what I BELIEVED. Not because I told someone they were an idiot for their beliefs or anything else.

The Catholic Church should clean up their own back yard. Their pedophile priests and this church. Spend your time asking the pope to address this kinda of behavior instead of attacking me.

For the record, driftdiver, I remember those stories too, and the links you posted should be ample documentation that it happened.

And to my fellow Catholics...I didn't see driftdiver start off attacking anything but only respond. He brought up a story he remembered, which turned out to be true.

Let's not be oversensitive here. Save your outrages for the perverted disgraziati that would DARE commit such blasphemy in a Catholic church.

You are an incredibly poor defender of your faith.
Just calling people names and being ungracious.
You were wrong. It would be more intelligent not to mention polite to admit that.
Putting the Holy Spirit in the same paragraph as your vulgar IM lingo is very low.
There are many Roman Catholics who must be embarrassed by your behavior.

"Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself."
NIV 1Cor. 11:27-29

Not something to be taken lightly.
