Not only is Mormonism a Christian faith, it is the truest form of Christianity, said speaker after speaker on the first day of the 177th Semiannual LDS General Conference. LDS authorities were responding to the allegation that Mormonism isn't part of Christianity. Made by different mainline Protestant and Catholic churches and repeated constantly during coverage of Mitt Romney's presidential campaign, the claim is based on Mormonism's beliefs about God, its rejection of ancient ideas about the Trinity still widely accepted, and the LDS Church's extra-biblical scriptures. "It is not our purpose to demean any person's belief nor the doctrine of any religion," said Apostle Jeffrey R. Holland in the afternoon session. "But if one says we are not Christians because we do not hold a fourth- or fifth-century view of the Godhead, then what of those first [Christians], many of whom were eye-witnesses of the living Christ, who did not hold such a view either?"
{snip}
The day's sermons included many familiar themes, including the importance of faith, the need for pure thoughts and actions, avoiding pornography reaching out to neighbors and eliminating spiritual procrastination. Hinckley talked about the destructive nature of anger in marriages, on the road, and in life, urging Mormons to "control your tempers, to put a smile upon your faces, which will erase anger; speak with words of love and peace, appreciation and respect."
If you want to be judged according to your works, just refuse to ask Jesus to Be your Deliverer and you will stand for judgment in the where/when. If, on the other hand, you will call upon The Savior and 'faithe' in His Salvation atonement for you, you will not be standing for judgment in that where/when because you will become the bride of Christ and He will not submit His righteousified Bride for judgment where the 'all that you can do' lost are judged.
So now, all that considered, these are considered my “works” that are written in the book of life? This is all I most do and I wont be judged of God on my actions hereafter?
Do you honestly think that is what “being judged by our works” means?
Can you see now why we hold no love for the creeds of men?
I am LDS and I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is truly the power of God unto salvation!
All the best.
We shall await your book reports.
It’s not my book, and I don’t write in it. It’s the Lamb’s book, and He’s kept it carefully.
Exodus 32:33
And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
If sins are not important to the book of life and how we are judged, then the report for both of us should be interesting and instructive. I do wish you all the best.
Okay seven, do you understand that we all sin? If not for the atonement of our Savior, we would all be doomed to damnation. This is what God was pointing out in Exodus 32:33. God gave us the law to demonstrate how fallible we are, and how much we need a Savior (God).
This is a point that I make again, and again. God is love, complete love, but he is also Justice. God demands justice for our sin. Now, God also gave us a way out of eternal puishment. God came as man to suffer, bleed and die - to cover our sins so we would be saved from the justice that God demands. The only thing you must do is accept the gift of His payment of your debt as a sinner.
We all are sinners. Even Mormons. God bought me with His blood because He loved me. The worst thing I could do is turn around and tell God, “thanks for the help, dude - I earned it.”
It is a horrendous thing for Christians to contemplate. You don’t even understand how abhorant your filthy rags are to Him. That’s why God blesses the humble.
Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.
1. God is not only pointing out our need for a savior, he is showing Moses that he is a just God, and cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance.
2. Jesus did not come to cover our sins, he came to free us from them. No unclean thing can dwell with God, and unless our sinful nature is fought against and lessened by coming unto Christ, then no amount of calling upon God will be sufficient. This is what is meant by our works. Putting off the natural man, so to speak. Your post was great! Thanks for that.
I know you don’t recognize the Book of Mormon as truth, but I ask you to please read these few verses. They speak the truth of God, and speak very much to the truths you just stated.
Mosiah 3:
17 And moreover, I say unto you, that there shall be no other name given nor any other way nor means whereby salvation can come unto the children of men, only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent.
18 For behold he judgeth, and his judgment is just; and the infant perisheth not that dieth in his infancy; but men drink damnation to their own souls except they humble themselves and become as little children, and believe that salvation was, and is, and is to come, in and through the atoning blood of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent.
19 For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.
20 And moreover, I say unto you, that the time shall come when the knowledge of a Savior shall spread throughout every nation, kindred, tongue, and people.
21 And behold, when that time cometh, none shall be found blameless before God, except it be little children, only through repentance and faith on the name of the Lord God Omnipotent.
I know you probably wont' accept that as truth, but I truly hope you do. Let me leave you with one more thought tonight, this one from the New Testament. Then I'm off again, hopefully not for several days this time.
Cheers,
James 2: 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
"No unclean thing can dwell with God, and unless our sinful nature is fought against and lessened by coming unto Christ, then no amount of calling upon God will be sufficient." Do you realize what a ' + your works ' insult you just made to Jesus Christ? You do not 'come unto Jesus' to get help, you come to Him for salvation; He is not your helpmate, He is The Savior and He does it completely! You are totally incapable of lessening your nature. ONLY God creates the new, you cannot do it. And by claiming that you can do some of the creating the new sevenbak, you besmirch the eternal value of His blood which is the ONLY means for your destiny to be redeemed.
"This is what is meant by our works." That may be the Mormon concept of works, but no, sorry, that is a satanic lie that has been fed to humankind in varying forms ever since the Garden scene, that you can do something to transform yourself toward perfection and then at the last minute Jesus will reach out and save you because you did such a good job trying to be righteous. If you could do these works, you would be creating a new you ... and you are utterly incapable of it because ONLY The Word Creates. As it states clearly in John Chapter One, by Him and through Him were/are/will all things (be) made.
"Putting off the natural man, so to speak."
Sevenbak, if that's what you think you can accomplish, good luck with your 'all that you can do'. It didn't work for the Pharisees and it won't work for you. BUT, you can be made new immediately if you will call upon Him to be your Deliverer/Redeemer/Savior and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. And if you have problems with the second half of that, tell me and I'll prove the resurrection for you to a psychological certainty.
thank you, Ogden Ut please
Is Jesus going to be timeshared in your theology??
++++++++++++++++++++++=
What are you talking about?
(Don’t leave out any important parts...)
+++++++++++++=
First, God does everything to you like a puppet master vs. you have to get your own faith.
YOU are the one complaining of HOW I say it; not WHAT I say.
+++++++++++++++++++++++=
Original, copy and pasted from your reply was to this part/
The conflict is how to control my anger at the WAY you speak of my church
And you left out not of what you finally get around to saying, you know the part about your actions.
and then in a later,in another post, you try to rewrite history and make out that you really said something you didn’t.
Exactly, when the argument holds no water, demonize the Christians and play the victim, just as the Mormon religion teaches.
Please, chapter and verse.
This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
++++++++++++++++=
Thank you, now we need to look at who hHe sent.
I type 50 to 60 mistakes a minute.
Attributing motives is a type of “making it personal.”
Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.
+++++++++++++++
Thank you for reminding me.

Please forgive me for adding the part after “information”. The Moderator reminded me I was wrong to do it, and he is right.
Why can’t you two groups get along?
+++++++++++++++++
The part about which origination was the one God chose.
And you are the one who follows a man that failed to follow the ‘scripture’ that was given to him by Moroni (or Nephi - it’s SO hard to keep all this stuff straight
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
how does what you said about me change what we were talking about, using confusion tactics again. “Look over there, not at me.”
