The new city of Damascus, and, indeed, IIRC, even the Damascus of Jesus time, was rebuilt since then.Your statement is incorrect- The key idea of this prophecy is that Damascus is utterly destroyed, never to be inhabited again. It can also be taken to mean that Syria itself will lose it's crown, or that Syria will cease to be as a sovereign nation for all time.
Neither of these have occurred, even to this very day.
