The pope has no say so or influence in mine or anyone else’s salvation nor does any man. Reciting endless liturgies will not secure my place in heaven.
Different strokes for different folks, but I cannot pray to anyone except God in the name of his Son. The whole sainthood thing is just not right in my reading of the Bible.
Only accepting the Lord and attempting to live by his will will get me in the gate.
Can I get an Amen here?
Very good response by the Southern Baptist!!!
Amen!
I don't want to wish ill on others, but I have no desire to be forced to accept bad theology, such as the claims of the RCC that they are the "one true church" or that "the pope is the direct representative of Christ on Earth". It really is a blessing when their leader makes these claims because it makes the divisions among us clear.
Essentially what the Church had in mind. To state the differences without wishy-washy diplomacy speak.
There was a time when the Vatican’s soldiers would have hauled this man off and burned him at the stake. There are some on this forum who long for those days.
So much for unity among believers.

Unfortunately, he misses the issue of hyper-denominationalism.
Pope Joseph Ratzinger is a serious hyperdenominationalist.
Fortunately, such thinking is clearly wrong. Hyper-denominationalists think they're either the only who've arrived or the only ones who "really" are right. Obviously, that makes everyone else somewhat less than acceptable. The hyper-denominationalism of the pope sees anything different from him as, at its very best, "dhimmi Christianity" to borrow a word from Islam. "Dhimmi's" are those who are tolerated, but who really are 2nd or 3rd class citizens.
Everything in the New Testament, though, testifies to the reality (and acceptability) of different approaches to following Jesus.
From the letters to the seven churches in the book of Revelation to the Pauline and Petrine letters to churches, to the churches depicted in the Book of Acts, to the very words of Jesus Himself, we realize that the bible teaches that different approaches will be taken and that those folks are still FULLY Children of God, too.
In the Gospel of Luke, we read these words of Jesus. Luke 9:49 "Master," said John, "we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us." 50 "Do not stop him," Jesus said, "for whoever is not against you is for you."
Anyone who wants salvation needs to follow the Berean example in Acts 17:11, and diligently search the Scripture to make sure the things we are being told by men are true.
Each of us is responsible for working out our own salvation. (Phillipians 2:12)
“And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.” Matthew 24:4
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15
Nothing has changed.
Rome is Rome.
I hope this will help the kumbaya faction of Evangelicalism wake up and smell the coffee.
