**is a KofC list even worthwhile? **

Yes, someone has to keep speaking up for Catholics. Please don't let this list languish.

I'm sorry for your discouragement.

The history of Protestantism, of course, is that it split off from, or revolted against, the Catholic Church. It used to be common for Protestants of all kinds to say that the Pope was Antichrist and that the Catholic Church was the Whore of Babylon.

There's still some of that attitude around, but a LOT less than there was. In particular, there has been a good deal of cooperation between Catholics and Evangelicals in recent years, because they have found themselves on the same side on many issues: the right to life, the importance of marriage and family, to name two.

The curious thing is that you never know when something you say on one of those wretched threads may break through and start somebody thinking. Not, perhaps, the person you are arguing with, but maybe somebody else.

People have a tendency to get their backs up and get more stubborn in an argument. But it can never hurt to keep repeating the truth. Somebody has to do it.

I'm an irregular contributor to these Catholic threads, so maybe I shouldn't talk. But I have often found them of interest and instructive.

**People who are in other religions are so jealous of Roman Catholics. **

Absolutely!

Paraphrasing here:

"When you deny me before others I will deny you before my Father; when you praise me before others, I will praise you before my Father."

PC for everyone, except for Christians - ESPECIALLY Catholics.

I don't watch the show "Law and Order", but I have heard that they bash pro-lifers, Christians, particularly Catholics.

Has anyone who watches the show, noticed this?

Personally, I would love to get the ping list, as I have family in the K of C, as well as the Masons.

Of course, I would be the wrong guy to handle the list. My god is an Indian that turns into a werewolf.

Anti-Catholicism is indeed the last acceptable prejudice.

Indeed it is. Take heart and stand fast.

All of the Catholic-bashers who are not Roman Catholic are jealous because Jesus Himself was the one who set up the Roman Catholic Church with Saint Peter the Apostle as the first Pope. The Catholic Church has a history, tradition, and organization. It is organized all over the world. The Catholic Church existed before any government that is presently on the face of the earth.

All my life I have heard people of other religions bashing Catholics but I have rarely, if ever have heard Catholics bashing people of other religions. The Catholic bashers are just jealous losers!

I'm not catholic and I don't think it is right to bash other religions if your definition of bashing is to name call or belittle.
However, I would like to post a question to those who are catholic. Do you study the bible? Do you have bible studies? I know for me the scriptures are what make me change my behavior and thoughts. It is what convicts me of my sin. It is what gets me through tough times.
I'm not asking this to belittle you in any way. It is a serious question. Of all the catholics I know, which is alot of people, I can only think of 1 who actually read and studied the bible. It was my neighbor. I know my friends and relatives who are catholic say that the bible must be interperted by a priest and they never read it. When I try to have a discussion about religion, they immediately say...well, that's what you think, not all religions believe that...and then they end the conversation. Is this what all catholics believe? These are just honest questions. I really would like to know. Thank you.

Add me / Remove me

Please ping me to all note-worthy Pro-Life or Catholic threads, or other threads of interest.

I know my friends and relatives who are catholic say that the bible must be interperted by a priest and they never read it.
I have NEVER heard that from any Catholic. NEVER. And yes, we read the Bible, regularly.

Yes we read the Bible. Your next question/comment makes me think this isn't a question at all.

Of all the catholics I know, which is alot of people, I can only think of 1 who actually read and studied the bible. It was my neighbor. I know my friends and relatives who are catholic say that the bible must be interperted by a priest and they never read it.

Then they are mistaken and must not be attending Mass. Every Mass consists of a Bible reading of several verses and a sermon on those verses. Most of the text of the Mass is taken from verses in the Bible, like the words of the Centurion to Jesus. Most churches have Bible discussion groups. Knights of Columbus have drives that collect money to send Bibles out for free. Whats really sounds funny is that nowhere in any Catholic teaching can you find the Bible being subjugated to being "interpreted" by a priest. Are you sure you heard this first hand? This sounds like what anti-Catholic evangelists spew out at meetings.

When I try to have a discussion about religion, they immediately say...well, that's what you think, not all religions believe that...and then they end the conversation. Is this what all catholics believe? These are just honest questions. I really would like to know. Thank you.

I will give you an honest answer. It sounds like you read too much Jack Chick. Catholics compiled the Bible into the form you read today.

Here is a honest question. Are you interested in Conservative common cause with Catholics?
